  1. About how much voltage should I expect to see while the battery is charging at idle? I just replaced the battery, and I checked the charging system. It showed 14.4 volts while idling, and I just want to be sure that the battery is being properly charged. Thanks

  4. Something sticking inside? Maybe if you disassemble it and do some cleaning and lubricating it will take care of the problem.
  5. You don't possibly have any shops there that specialize on electric motors? It's been my experience that they do excellent work, and you know it was done right. Unfortunately, buying Chinese knockoffs is a crapshoot. Just MHO, but I think your problem exists either in your ignition switch or the starter.
  6. Sounds fishy to me. I would be surprised if you do hear back from the seller. They got your money and it's out of warranty, so you get it in the end. Do you still have the old one?
  7. Was it a new starter? I guess it wouldn't matter. Nowadays with such poor quality control nothing is guaranteed.
  8. $75.00 for an ignition switch sure seems a bit steep. Sounds like you are paying for a name in this instance. I can understand relying on name brands for reliability, but that's awful steep. Believe me, I get that you don't want to keep throwing money at it. Sometimes our toys get a bit expensive to keep going.
  9. I don't know what a ignition switch costs, but if it's not expensive I would try that if everything else is working properly.
  10. And you have checked the continuity through all the wires? And the starter motor checked out good? Just throwing some ideas out there.
  11. It's the correct voltage, right? This almost sounds like my situation. My battery shows a full charge, but drops drastically when I hit the starter switch. I've recharged it, checked all the connections, but it was still not starting, just a click of the solenoid. After doing the load test, I found that the battery was bad.
  12. Have you checked the voltage out of the switch to the starter? Could it be the switch itself?

  14. Well, hooked up a load tester. It showed 12 volts before the load was applied. Once I applied the load, the needle fell almost as fast as it would if I was disconnecting the tester. Fell like a rock! Guess I'm in need of a new battery!

  17. I was going to load test it. I should have done that sooner, then I wouldn't be guessing or asking so many questions, duh!
  18. Yeah, that's the first thing I did. It was a little low, so I added some distilled water.
  19. I am assuming that you had the key on when you jumped the thermoswitch plug. On my Massimo there is a fuse/relay box under the hood. Not sure where it would be located on your machine, but there is where you will find the fuse and/or the relay for the fan. Did the fan run when supplied with direct voltage?
  20. I was thinking the same thing. I'm trying to research a way to rejuvenate the cell, or if I can't do that, then renew the battery. I see plenty of ways on the internet, but some seem so outrageous that I just stopped searching, at least for the time being. Would a battery for a lawn tractor work? They seem to be much more affordable than one specific to powersports.
  21. 25.5 hp. I would think that if the battery was in good condition, it would have no problem spinning the engine over, especially since it's a higher rated CCA than the OEM battery.
  22. Thanks, I will try that. I am aware of the auto parts stores testing a battery for free, I am just trying to avoid going out as much as possible. The COVID 19 infection here is really high currently. I also feel sort of beholding to the parts store to purchase a new battery there. This battery is a 335CCA unit. I would think it would spin the motor easily.
  23. First, understand that my T-boss 410 doesn't move very often, since I don't yet have a trailer and no trails nearby. So I occasionally go out and start it, let it idle, and take a ride around my property. This time, the battery was all but dead, so I put it on a charger. It showed a full charge after a few hours, so I reinstalled it in the UTV, and attempted to start it again. It acted as though it was almost dead, as before. I hooked up the charger and jump started it, which took several tries. It's the stock battery, but the unit only has 14.5 hours on it. I purchased it in an auction on Ebay back in December of last year. It was a floor model. Everything seems in good working order. Could I have a bad cell in the battery? How can I test for that? Thanks!
