New member From Northern Indiana . and coolant ??????

I have a Coleman HS400UTV-5 got it manly for hunting and spending time with the grandkids

The one problem I am trying to avoid. My son borrowed it last summer and said it ran hot so he added water to it . I do not know how much he put in so I would like to drain most of it and add new coolant to protect it this winter. I can find no drain cock or any way of draining it besides loosening a hose.  Any suggestions ????

Exactly as Joe said. You have to loose a hose to drain, no petcock.

When you add coolant. Be sure to raise the front end. The higher the better. Then on, my axis 500 and others, there's a bleed screw/bolt on the gooseneck on the head. Where the coolant hose connects to the head. Be sure to bleed/burp all the air out.

I recommend bleeding there multiple times. Over a course of multiple heating up cycles.

If your son did get it hot. Once you have all the air out. Check and make sure there is no coolant in the oil. Make sure there is no bubbles rising in the overflow coolant catch jug with radiator cap on once the engine is up to operating temp.

On my axis 500, the temp sensor is on the gooseneck at the head. That sensor turns on the temp idiot light on dash.

There is also a temp sensor on the radiator. That one tells the electric fan to kick on and off.

Best of luck and welcome to the forum from KY.

above steps are right on BUT to make the job easier AND QUICKER...beat the book------------bleed the air from the overflow line (hose) to the puke jug.

1.  Fill the puke jug above the cold line by about an inch with straight antifreeze......no mix.....with the hose connected between the puke jug and radiator neck

2.  fill the radiator fill neck one last time to the top.  Will try to drain back into the puke jug........normal

3.  seal the tank lid along with an added air hose with a shop towel and blow air (lung power is just fine---you don't want a fountain for the neighborhood cats to lap up---- into the puke jug........forces the coolant up into the radiator filler neck.

4.  When the bubbles stop and the concentrated antifreeze swirls into the filler neck.....maintain pressure and then install the radiator cap.  no drain down of antifreeze.

5.  release air pressure and remove the sealing shop rag and hose tubing....... install the puke tank lid.  This saves the time wasted on having to heat cycle multiple times to purge the line to the puke jug.   chow.

2022 Coleman 400 with 13 hours on the engine and the mice got to it. Every wire coming out of the steering column in one cluster has been eaten through. I tried reconnecting matching wire colors to each other and I get the left turn signal and hazards to work, nothing else. If I play around a bit I can get the horn to honk or headlights to come on but only when I connect them to the brown wire. Obviously I don't know what I am doing here. Does anyone have a picture of how these wires are connected when they are under the hood on the drivers side coming from the steering column?
Gray - seems to carry power
      Brown - left turn signal
Green with purple stripe - hazards?
Pink with red stripe - horn?
      Green - head lights?
      Yellow - head lights?
      Yellow with red stripe?
      Blue?
      Dark green?
There is also a bundle hanging under the hood not connected to anything green with yellow strip, brown and blue?
Other than that issue, I am about ready to sell this for parts if you interested let me know.
      Thanks

Hey all, I was just wondering what you guys consider a necessary upgrade or spare part to have or mod onto your machine.
I'm going for a kind of shtf survival rig that's not going to be SUPER heavy and I'm looking at getting:
A spare belt (I keep seeing this mentioned everywhere I look so it must be important)
A spare tire and mount( So would I need a jack like one from an old jeep or something else?)
      Tire chains for the winter
And maybe a cargo bed upgrade so things don't slide out.
      Bumpers because duh.
I already installed high output lights and have a windshield, roof, back window, and winch. And I outfitted a Molle panel for the back of my passenger seat with extra supplies like food, first aid, and spare mags.
Any advise on increasing durability, longevity, and having something on hand because it's absolutely necessary would be a plus.
      Thanks so much!

After sitting this winter in a garage, I noticed coolant under the side by side when I went to get it out.  Does anyone know what would cause the coolant to leak out while in storage?  Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
      Thanks,
      John
