  1. So, you just leave the thermoswitch in the radiator? I take it you used enough tape to basically waterproof it? Thanks
  2. I don't remember if I asked you (the memory is the first thing to go), but how did you wire in the bypass?
  3. Gees, I'm just passing along some information that may or may not be useful for another Massimo owner. Maybe that could save them from the situation that you went through. Replacing the thermoswitch would (I assume) be much less expensive than a new head and gasket, along with the labor. Just trying to do some good here.
  4. I hope this is something you don't already know, and if it is, I apologize. I had sent an email to Brandon Beaver, a tech for Massimo, asking about the ECU programming. According to him, the ECU isn't responsible for when the fan comes on, but it's a thermoswitch that's mounted on the radiator. He says that a thermoswitch that is rated at a lower temp can be purchased (although he didn't mention where) to replace the OEM one. He also advised the the temp is set at 215-220, and that Yamaha has theirs set at 217, and that range is normal in the powersports industry. Hope this helps, but if it doesn't, just ignore it. I was just trying to give an alternative to the fan fix.
  5. I think you misunderstood me. The automakers have set up the cooling systems in passenger cars and trucks to run hotter than I would like, with the reason being it's more fuel efficient. I was just curious if maybe that was the reason that Hisun programmed the ECU to fire up the fan at such a high temperature. Have you thought about the possibility of the fan motor burning out from running constantly? Is that a part that can be obtained from other sources than Massimo? I wonder what other makes of UTV's have their fan set to run at? I know there are programmers out there for other makes of UTV's, but I haven't found anything for the Massimo.
  6. So, there is no known way to reprogram the ECU to lower the temp for the fan to kick on? There's lots of programmers out there in the automotive industry that will accomplish that. Could it be set at that temp for environmental reasons, ad the automakers did?
  7. Well.....that don't make me feel good! What is the problem within the cooling system?
  8. Am I correct in assuming that, per earlier conversations, that it's the Hisun engines that are prone to overheating?
  9. What make is the engine? A member here (Joe Breaux) had some overheating issues with his Massimo. He managed to override the thermostat and has the cooling fan running constantly, as long as the engine is running. Fixed his problem. I have a 2019 T-Boss 410, but haven't had any such issue (yet), knock on wood! I understand that Massimo had some overheating issues with a certain make of engine, and they switched to another engine maker.
  10. Looks like you got all the bugs worked out on it. Maybe you can pass along your fix to Massimo so they can help others get theirs fixed 👍Lol, just kidding! Glad to hear that it's finally working so you can enjoy it.
  11. Well, that gives me a warm feeling inside...not! I don't know what make the engine is in mine. I believe that the control arm covers say Linhai on them, so I would assume that the engine is a Linhai? Did you purchase yours before December of last year? That's when I got mine. I also got mine through Ebay, in an online auction.
  12. Do you know if it's limited to a particular model or engine size? I did a quick search for that topic on the internet, but didn't come across anything.
  13. Gotcha. Does yours have an LCD screen with rpms, coolant temperature, fuel level, and mileage?
  14. Thanks. How do I know what temperature is programmed for the fan to kick on?
  15. So.....maybe the bugs are all worked out? Maybe it's worth keeping now? I guess as far as the fan goes, I'm not sure why it was overheating. Is there a thermostat? Is it located in a poor position? I would like more information, so I can see if mine is set up the same way. Sounds like you had a good time, and did better than some in your group.
  16. So, how did your Massimo hold up?
  17. Was your fan not coming on at all? I've let mine idle for a while just to get the fan to kick on. I haven't seen any overheating issues yet, but it is certainly something for me to keep my eyes on. Thanks!
  18. I hope it'll hold up for ya. I guess maybe I am particularly interested in your situation since I have a Massimo myself. Mine's been sitting in the garage for a few weeks. Been busy with other things, and I don't deal with the heat too well anymore. Anyway, yesterday I decided to try and start it. I was quite surprised when it started right up. I expected the battery to need a charge. Anyway, let me know what happens. Thanks!
  19. Were you able to unload yours?
  20. Mine did the same thing once. Put the key in and tried to crank it over. I got nothing. Removed the battery and put it on a charger. While I was at it, I found that the cables at the battery were not very well secured, so once I got a full charge on the battery, I reinstalled it and was sure to get a tight fit on the cables. It's been good ever since. It does lose a bit of a charge if it sits too long without being started.
  21. Could it be the connections at the regulator? Or try to locate a regulator from another vendor. Could be it's a marginal part.
  22. Are you sure it's not the battery? I had some issues with mine, and was fortunate enough to get with a tech at Massimo. He was informative and helpful. He emailed me the wiring diagram for my T-boss 410. His email address is [email protected]. I'm sure he can help. He's not real prompt, but he will get back to you.
  23. I'm sorry, I have been trying to advise you of some way to get what you paid for, but I see you have already tried everything I can think of. I would expect the Texas Attorney General to get some response in your favor. I don't know if the same folks are in charge as when I purchased mine, but I am guessing not. They were very accommodating and helpful. The UTV field is very competitive, so if they want to continue, they need to be more consumer friendly. Is the picture you have attached the actual unit you purchased?
  24. I can't blame you for your feelings for the company. I dealt with someone else than you did, which may have been the difference. I also understand your doubts for the BBB and the Attorney General. In both cases, I have had good and bad luck. Personally, if you have black and white proof of the issues you are having with Massimo, I would be forwarding that proof to the Texas Attorney General's office. I would gather everything I have, fill out the required forms, and send it to that office, via the internet, of course. Once the Attorney General receives the information, they will assign it to one of their investigators, who will of course contact Massimo. They don't want the possibility of legal action, nor the negative press it will undoubtedly generate. This is all just advice on my part, based on experience with this type of thing. I guess it's just the feeling of retribution for poor treatment from the vendor. But if you get some satisfaction from them, you have also improved the chances that others will be treated more fairly.
  25. I bought a 2019 T-boss 410 (actually it was an auction) back in December of 2019. Got it for a decent price, as it was also a floor model. When it arrived (that's another story altogether), the roof was missing. It had broken off during the shipping. The shipper was good enough to refund a portion of the shipping fee. I contacted Massimo and advised them that the roof had broken off during shipment, fully expecting to pay for a new one. Not only did they not charge me, they shipped it with no charges, also. The unit was missing a bolt for the hood, which they shipped free, as well. Brandon the tech also sent me electrical schematics via email when I thought I had a problem with the starter. I can't explain why you were treated in such a poor manner, but if you haven't received any satisfaction from them, I would contact the BBB. Sometimes they can light a fire under their butts, and you may get at least some sort of satisfaction.
