  1. I have a Massimo Buck 450 and last winter I had the snow plough added by my dealer. After about 15 minutes of ploughing the plough went down but would not lift up. Upon inspection, it appears that the winch is permanently in the free-spool. When you try to wind back in the spool just spins. It is out of warranty and upon looking at replacing I am not sure how I would go about it. Has anyone had similar issues? Has anyone replaced it with a new winch? is so what model and how was it installed? Any help is welcomed.
  2. I ordered remote control hardware from Amazon https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07P2G4T22?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details and initially installed module behind the switch panel and wired it into the winch control switch. After researching the 2014 HiSun service manual posted by another forum member, I discovered a better way to implement (fyi-this is not documented any Coleman service manual that I could find) My UTV is a 2022 model, but the wiring appeared to be the same for my model. There was an unconnected Molex plug hanging under hood on the driver side (Molex#33471-3301), (see photo). I purchased a Molex 3 wire connector ((Molex#216283-1032) directly from Molex for $5.82 including tax & shipping. This connector has the 3 wire pigtail to easily splice to the remote control module wiring. https://www.molex.com/molex/products/part-detail/cable_assemblies/2162831032 . I added a ground stud near the parking brake mechanism in order to connect the black wire from the module see photo) . I added velcro to the module and then secured with zip ties to the back of the nameplate bracket (see photo). See the wiring diagram for hook-up that I used. The loose blue wire is the antenna so it is not connected to anything. Molex Wiring.pdf
  3. Buck 450 wireless winch remote control. Opened up the winch relay control box. AS some reported for other models, there's a factory wireless receiver in there, but they won't sell you a remote for it. Easy to replace since it's on quick connects. Disconnect the factory receiver and replace. Amazon has a bunch of very similar units. I replaced it with this ($20) . took 15 minutes. Wiring is the same. This photo is the inside of the winch relay control box located in the passenger side front wheel well. Two screws hold the relay box to the frame. Remove those and just turn the box around. 6 small screws on the back, Open it up, remove the factory receiver. I clipped off the screw tabs on the new receiver just to make it easier to slide into the case. Clipped the new receiver wires and added quick connect lugs. This remote works great from up to 100 feet away. https://www.amazon.com/AUTOUTLET-Recovery-Controller-(Batteries-included)/dp/B07CPRVW6Y/ref=sr_1_1?crid=13OR05GVT51TT&keywords=AUTOUTLET+2PCS+Recovery&qid=1645882829&s=automotive&sprefix=autoutlet+2pcs+recovery%2Cautomotive%2C53&sr=1-1
  4. Where do I mount the winch solenoid on my can am maverick sport 1000?
  5. I found (of course) remotes for the Warn VRX winch they sell with these vehicles are much cheaper online than through the store. But I can’t find any videos online specific to installing a wired remote on a Tracker or AC. Has anyone done this for a Tracker? There is no room. I need info about the install and what it takes to use the remote after install. Does a pigtail mount to the winch and stay on all the time? Surely you don’t have to access the back of the winch for each use?
  6. Just got a Champion 2000lb winch for Father's Day. Going on a 2018 Mule 4010 Trans used on the farm. Anyone have any experience/ tips for mounting? Front mount so what do I need? Thanks in advance.
  7. Just wanted to pass along my little project after not finding any ready made accessories for adding a rear winch. I always say a front winch is to get others out of trouble. A rear winch is to get me out of trouble. I had my local steel shop bend up a rear bracket and integrated it into the rear frame of the machine. I extended the rear hitch and utilized the existing rear pin with the new bracket. The bracket bolts to existing holes on each side of frame and is super strong. I bought a 3500lb winch from Harbor Freight that matches the OEM front winch in all respects except the labels. I added a second corded remote to the dash and extended the power leads to reach the rear with the control box mounted with the front one. Total project cost was $225.

Another good use for my winch, I needed to be able to get under the fenders, there is a strap at the bottom so they can not spread any further.
  9. I'm new on this forum, so please forgive me if there's been a thread on this subject before. I did do a search and have found refs to other threads, but haven't found a reply to this issue. First off: Crappy brakes. Noticed that the pads ony contact about two thirds of the actual disc width area, and what's with the two caliper deal on the back wheel??? Anyone found a caliper replacement, perhaps from a motorcycle or small car that might fit and give the brakes some extra bite? Winch issue: Doesn't work. Traced the power to the octastyle relay above the battery, which is fused. A new one is on the way from Joyner-usa.com ([email protected], contact bryan). Is there anything else I should change or be worried about winch-wise? We´re volunteers and use this in central america to reach communities that can only be reached on horseback or rugged vehicle, so we need a reliable winch. Thanks for all your help!
