Would you buy a new Joyner today

New to this forum, was just wondering if you would be crazy to buy a new Joyner trooper with the current situation with Joyner? What are your thoughts on this subject? Thanks

Hi RF and welcome. I'm fairly new here myself and have been blessed by the knowledge and help these guys and gals have been.

After reading a bunch of these posts, you might think twice about Joyners and especially with the current situation, but that's another story. I think it really depends on what you want to do with a machine.....................play only or workhorse only or streetable or a combo of two or all three?

I bought a R-2 in 08. I checked out all the specs as to ground clearance, tire size, engine size, wheel base, carrying capacity of dump bed and watched a vid of a Rhino and R-2 take the same severe course. The Joyner beat it hands down. Not so sure about a drag race, as I was not concerned, though I want the machine to be fast also. But the thing I liked best was a real five spd tranny. The majority out there are all automatics. the dump beds are plastic and can't carry much of a load. Mind you, I am speaking of the R-2 which is as much a workhorse as a fun machine.

The T-2 is a different ballgame and most here have them. But they seem to have more breakage and need allot of mods depending on what you want from a machine. They are more expensive, but boast a four banger versus my three banger. I think if I were where you are, I would wait and see what happens with the company as to availabilty of parts and service :rolleyes:

Yes I would still purchase my Trooper T-4.I still feel its the best bang for the buck.I am sure someone will come through and bring the product into the USA.What joyner are you interested in or are you just curious.

Welcome. If I were where I am now when I bought my Trooper, I wouldn't have bought one. However, let me explain. I like my Trooper and don't concern myself about parts too much. I have the ability and machinery unlike most to pretty much remake or adapt something else for anything I might need. I'm not sorry I bought th T2 because I've learned a lot about how one should be built or not be built. I considered about just building one from scratch but without the knowledge I gained with the T2 I would have made several mistakes. I feel like now I could build a far superior ride. So at the time it was the right machine for me to buy and I would do it over again if my knowledge base was where it was back then. I still do a lot of things that the other ATVs would struggle at. Like really steep climbs. It's just more stable climbing because of its length. I can carry a bigger load. I feel safer. It's a 5 speed. I like the engine. With the problems fixed, it's a real brute. With the changes I have made to mine, it's a good solid machine and reliaible. Now that I've rewired everythig, I can track downs problems much much easier. I can't beleive Joyner will let thyings drop. There are over 100 dealers in the USA alone and probably 200 world wide. Thats a big start and with a few improvements, Joyner could be a major player in the field with it's own nitch machine. Mine is still a work in progress but that is me. I could have bought a Honda and it would also perpetually be a work in progress.

Well said Lenny,I think most people who buy any machine like this after a while has their own ideas.Some like you have the ability to go further then others do.I myself dont have the capabilities or knowledge you and many other members here have(I wish i did).I do have ideas for changes I can make by either purchasing other parts or making my own.One of the many reasons I like this forum is I have learned so much just from sitting back and reading what goes back and forth between many of you.I think no matter what purchase I would have made I myself would find changes to be made,mechanically or cosmeticaly.

my buddy I ride with is in a chair and drives a long travel rhino. I would love to let him drive the trooper to feel the power diff but since hes in a chair he is stuck to an automatic.

After what has happened with Joyner and with the shitty dealer I tried to have service done at and then the long talk which didnt end so nicely with the service manager today I am not sure about buying a trooper given another chance. I love it but worry about sourcing parts. Most of my concern isnt littler stuff as i own my own hot rod/race car shop and have the abilty to build alot of stuff and retro fit stuff. My main conceern is the extended warr company not being able to get big parts

I was also told that I may have to order parts from Joyner China myself and then be reinbersed by the extended warr company. I think the dealer is just a joke and doesent take care of people but more concered about flagging hours and doing customer pay services and not fixing stuff

I've noticed that the teamjoynerusa web site is now under construction. Have they found a new distributor?

Yes i would still buy my trooper today even with what has happened to the USA Distributor. I have had a few problems with mine and somethings have been a learning experience, but all and all i have had great times with it. For future joyner buyers a piece of good advice though is do not try taking it through any deep mud. With it being a standard shift transmission and having open pressure plates uderneath they will pack full of mud and cost a good deal to get fixed.

I was thinking about the T4 Trooper. I also noticed that the team joyner website is back up. Thanks for all the comments. I may waite a little longer and see what takes place in the USA with Joyner. As far as looks I think the Joyner Trooper UTV is one of the coolest looking UTV made today. I am sure it wouldn't do to good down here in Texas in the mud as a stock UTV without modifications that some of the locals play in, but as the old saying goes, "The difference between men and boys is the price of their toys!" I am glad there is a place like this that you can discuss these things with other people that have been there done that kind of thing.

      trying to finish assembly "new" 2021 Coleman ut 400

      Hey guys! Newbie here. I'm an old man who's better with plowing a mule (4-legged kind) than these newfangled beasts. I, and a friend of mine, just bought new Coleman sxs and are having to finish the assembly. I've been reading on this site and I'm falling on the mercy of you experts. The only way I'm an expert is that an "ex" is a has been, and a spurt is a drip under pressure. LOL First off, the 2 buggies have no ignition switches. They seem to mount on the dash, not the opening in the steering wheel shaft cover, so we ordered new ones that are supposed to fit. They are 8 inches long, and have a 4-wired white plugin which is slightly rectangled when looking at the end of the plug. The trouble is there's nothing to plug into. There is a three-wire grey plug close enough to reach the four-wire plug, but of course, they are not compatible. 
      Secondly, the blinker, light, ect. unit on steering wheel just spins around when touched. I see no way in heaven or earth to secure it. I've looked at a diagram on the Powersports site, but can't detect how it mounted. Fellows I'd be so grateful for any help with this. Me and my mule will even plow your garden for free, for your help. LOL

      Just received delivery of a 2024 AMP Pro.  Thought I'd start a thread with my impressions as I use it and learn more.  There doesn't seem to be a whole lot of real-world usage information out there on this model.  Hope this will help others as they research.
      Intended Use Cases
      Fire mitigation / slash removal from a 5 acre forested and well-gamble-oaked property.  The previous owners thought as much about fire mitigation as I do about fashion: not much. Snow removal Stump pulling General hauling (rock, lumber, etc.) Weimaraner energy depletion.  Wasn't an original use case, but a nice added bonus.  Experiences So Far
      Wasn't impressed that two of the bumpers on the underside of the bed where it sits upon the frame were missing.  The metal on metal contact has damaged the powder coating and the frame.  I expect a little better QC.
      I've only put a few hours on it, so not a ton to report on usage.  It isn't quiet; it's silent.  I can't even detect an electric note from the motor. I removed (and subsequently replaced) the motor cover noticed that the motor is German and made by Schambuller.  The motor controller is Italian and made by Dana TM4.  Given the operating specs of both I found on the web, I suspect both are higher quality than the previous Navitas (which is supposed to be decent).  The motor is rated at 25 hp and 71.5 lb-ft of torque.  It feels very powerful.  All the torque is delivered instantly, if desired.
      The bed is huge and has an electric dump as standard.  Great feature but would like it to go up a bit more.  Probably not feasible from an engineering perspective, but I want and I need ;).
      Power steering is nice, but vague.  Probably common to many UTVs, but I am accustomed to more direct results from input.  Plan early and plan often.
      In our first full day of usage, we hauled about 1/2 as much slash as the entire rest of the year when I was doing it by hand cart.  I may get fatter, but I'll also get more done.  After a few days of usage, the battery meter has gone down by 1/10th.
