We are exploring purchasing a UTV for search and rescue operations. I do not know much about these and definitely don't know how to intelligently compare the models. Is a 4x4 or 6x6 better off-road? Does the 4x4 or the 6x6 perform better? We will be using the vehicle only once a month or so, but when we do, we'll be using it hard. It will be used to access rural areas that involve mountains and poorly maintained trails. It will need to get through mud, gravel, snow, and occasionally cross streams. It must have a cargo area that can carry around 600lbs or more and accept a 2" ball hitch. It also has to accept or come with a winch (4,000 lbs or more would be good). Ideally, I would like to be able to attach a plow and take care of the parking lot as well. I appreciate any adivice you can share. Thanks!

First of all indeed, make sure you know what you want to do with the unit. Pick one that fits your needs! There are several UTV manufacturers out there and depending on what you are going to do with your Side X Side make your choice. Second, find a dealer that has good customer service. If you don't get the help during the sales process you probably going to be SOL after the sale.

If anywhere possible, TEST DRIVE THE UNIT before purchasing!

      Hey everyone,
I’m in the market for a UTV windshield that can withstand extreme conditions, including high winds, dust, and off-road impacts.
I’ve seen a lot of options out there, but I’m unsure which one will provide the best protection and durability.
Does anyone have experience with windshields that excel in these environments? Are there specific brands or materials you recommend?
I’m particularly interested in options that offer both durability and clarity.
Any tips or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated!

Riding out today it acted like it ran out of gas,  stalled and died and would not start.   Towed back to house,  New  plug added this past month,  plenty of oil, getting plenty of gas, battery cranks good.   Trys to kick in and starts but doesnt.   Two days prior while sitting at a idle it died.  Added gas and it started did my ranch chores with it.  But just now it stalled out cranks but will not start.   Tried to find if fault codes came up on the clock like manual says but not sure I am doing that right.  Any and all help apprecated.  Thank you

If anyone is looking for the cheapest UTV, with dump bed, winch, roof and windshield, I just noticed that lowes has the axis 500/ hisun UTV on sale for 4500 (at least in my area) They are $4500. ($9000 original). I have one - they have some issues, but nothing catastrophic. My biggest complaint is that it is under powered. Also the winch failed. They are still selling an extended warranty - which I would take, just in case. My guess is lowes wants them gone.
