What does it say on the heads of the bolts? Should say something like 8.8 or 12.9. If it's 8.8, the bolts were not upgraded. Is there any signs of the diff being re-shimmed for proper running clearances or did the whole thing just feel sloppy?

I did not take it apart CrawlinT2 did, he is in Alabama, but he said he took the bolts to a local bolt shop and they told him they were grade 5 or so bolts. When I get to the shop in the morning I am going to disassemble one of these new upgraded diffs and check bolts in them. I have personally checked backlash on all the ones I have sent out and they seem to be right on the money. This diff was sent to him well over a year agobefore TJU went out of buisness, so it may not have been as upgraded as the new ones are? I will keep you posted as I break one down and see whats inside it this coming week.

12.9s are what Lenny puts in his kits, I found them at McMaster-Carr, but we had to grind the heads down for clearances. http://www.mcmaster.com/#socket-cap-screws/=b3ydaq,

Ha ha. Yea it did. Has anyone had problems with their front diffs? Thinking about taking it out and upgrading it to!

You needs to upgrade them both including shimming them correctly. I have an upgrade kit available on Ebay if you want to go that way. You will not be able to drill and retap the holes, material is way too hard.

Jarrad, I'm a newbee and just bought a Commando diff from you and I haven't installed it yet, should I check it before I install it and if so what do I need to look for?

It never hurts to check and double check. you could take it apart and check all the bolts for tightness and proper grade, also that it is shimmed correctly. Or stick it in and run the piss out of it.. you got a 30 day warranty better use it while you can :)

On a side note, a customer called me has a renegade, broke his rear diff, he bought this renegade brand new. He took it apart had Trooper rear gears in it, 15/32 tooth I told him to go ahead and pull down the front to see whats in it and he had the 14/32 in front, so he has been working against himself while in 4X4 since he first bought it.

^^ That's messed up! Lenny I'm going to buy that Diff fix just curious if you have a front kit?

The same kit will work for both the front and the rear. There is a differance but the kits cover that. You would need two kits.

Thanks lenny. Jarred do you know the dealer that sold the unit? I dont see that being a dealers fault.

Just checked the "New Upgraded Diff", bolts are 8.8, shim seems ok but I am going to check that also when I have more time.

I was changing my diff oil toady and noticed a set screw looking piece stuck to the magnet. It didn't look broken off of anything. It was small with a flat head slot on the top then threaded then came to a point on the bottom. Anyone have any idea what this is and why it came out?

it holds one of the pins for the spider gear.

I think the trooper diffs are far more advanced than we give them credit for. They seem to be spitting out the stuff they don't need. :unsure:

Here's where that set screw goes, if it's out, park the Trooper IMMEDIATELY and pull the diff or you may(probably) end up with what I did. Look at the rest of the photo in this album.

      I have a 2022 Hisun 750 Sector which comes with a locked rear differential. Was wondering if it would be possible to install an unlocking differential.  I see that there are some Hisun made machines that come with the unlocking rear diff, such as Cub Cadet Challenger, some of the Massimos, and probably others. My concern is whether these would be a direct bolt on, using the original axles, drive shaft, and of course matching gear ratio. I've tried to match up part numbers but it seems every brand has their own number system even for parts that I know are identical. If anyone has ever done this swap or has any information about the whether these unlocking rear diffs are comparable to the Sector, I'd appreciate your input.

      I have a fuel injected UT400 that will start and idle, but surges and sputters at higher speed.  It has been sitting for 2-3 months and was fine when parked in garage.  I assumed it was a fuel/air problem and pulled the throttle body and cleaned it up.  I've ended up replacing the injector, IAC valve, MAF Temp Pressure Sensor, and fuel filter.  I've also checked the spark plug, Still surging.  I reset the ECU after every component swap.
      I plan to pull the throttle body again and look evrything over for any visible leaks, etc.
       
      Any suggestions would be appreciated on next steps.   The problem developing after sitting makes me think it should be something simple, but I'm stumped.  BTW the fuel was fresh and treated with Stabil.

      This was happening to me regularly with the original battery pack, I would drive a few yards and power cut to the motor, no error code, dash works, lights etc, just no drive. Brake lights not on so I don’t think it’s a switch thing. Sometimes it would go back to normal after a few day sitting in the barn. I ended up changing to lithium ion battery 100amp 48v and the problem completely went away for two months so I figured it was something worth the old battteries. Now it’s doing the same thing again, I’ve removed every main electrical connection, cleaned it good, and put it back together. Battery is at100 percent and good voltage. What is interesting is it doesn’t matter how much power I’m drawing, if I’m just creeping along in low or flooring it in high it stops after the same amount of time, about 7 seconds. If I let go of the acceleration right before the 7 seconds I can keep driving like that indefinitely but obviously that’s pretty annoying. Or if I switch immediately to reverse I can back up  and go back to F without cycling the key. Has anyone else run into this? It really seems like a safety switch issue to me but unsure what else to check.

      I have a 2016 Landmaster 670. It will stop running after 15-20 of driving. Restarts easily but still has a hard time staying running after that. New carburetor, fuel pump, fuel filter, and spark plugs. Anybody else have this problem?

      Last year my Mule started running bad and was hard to start. NOT a battery or starter problem. I replace the carb with one of those cheap Chinese carbs from Amazon. Problem got worse. So, I replaced the fuel pump, one from Kawasaki, fuel filter and lines. Then replaced the fuel pump line to the engine. Finally bought a Kawasaki carb. Everything was ok till I filled the gas tank with fresh gas then it started running bad and hard to start again. The tank is clean. Gas is fresh, AGAIN. Filter is new. When running it has an occasional misfire. Managed to burn about a gallon out of the tank. Runs better. Replaced the gas cap in case it wasn't venting. No change. When running, if you try to go full throttle, it bogs down. The gas is good. I use it in my mower with no problem. The stater was replaced about one year ago and the flywheel cleaned inside. Still seams like a fuel problem but I'm at a loss. It's going back to the mechanic shop today. We use the Mule every day, live on a farm. It's never sat up. It has 1045hrs on it. New battery and starter.
      Any ideas?
