A 2013 Spring Jamboree March 8 -- 10

Nobody has brought up a Trooper Jamboree for 2013 so far. Ricksrb, Bruhaw, Casey from JMC and a couple of others plus myself have been planing a ride in the Parker, AZ area starting Friday March 8th to Sunday March 10th. The Jamborees have always been hard to put together because we have always tried to get everybody to agree on a time. This proved to keep it sloppy and we never ended up with more then 3 or 4 forum members coming. Talking with Bruhaw, we decided to call this the 2013 Spring Jamboree and see if any one else wants to join us. Anybody and everybody is welcome, you don't have to have a Joyner. We are planing to stay at the La Paz County Park Campground which is about 8 miles north of Parker. This campground is right on the Colorado River and is very clean quite nice. The cost is about $25 a night. They do allow dogs. We wil be rriding the trails in the area and on the other side of the river in California. We'll get a chance to offroad to the infamous Desert Bar which is out in the middle of nowhere and primarily for off roaders. We will be trailering to the rides from the campground. For myself, I'll be droping my 5th wheel and pulling just my Trooper trailer into California because Its illegal to double trailer in that state.

This is adding up to be a great riding event and we hope others can join us. Let us know.

Lenny,

I got a message from Bruce this morning about the campground. he said it was about a 3 mile drive to the trail head by road. If the trail head is is refering to is the same one i am thinking it is there is a campground directly across the street from it. I am waiting to hear back from him now.

P.S. I tried to send you a PM but it would not accept.

There is, it to is also on the Colorado river. I had called them and theysaid they have lots of space open for around that time. They are about 5 dollars a n ite more, no big deal. It would be nice to be able to head out for a ride when everyone else is doing something else. I'll drop Bruce a thought on that too.

Might have to clean out my PMs, I'll check it.

Maps and coordinates please

Would you mind checking whether or not Licence Troopers can drive on the roads so we (I) don't have to trailer the Trooper from camp.

I know up in Havasu they dont press it as long as you abide by the law. If its licensed off road you can go on roads to reach trail heads. Naturally if its street licensed no problem.

campground 34°15'27.93"N 114° 8'42.86"W

Trail head 34°15'19.97"N 114° 8'52.45"W

Desert Bar 34°12'5.22"N 114° 8'55.11"W

I have looked closer at Google Earth and fount a ton of trails connecting to the Desert Bar. I can't stay at the campgrounf because they don't allow Dobermans. Your ok with your dog Rick. I'm going to stay across the road from the campground. I'll be maybe 200 or 300 yards in and isolated from the public. I can let the dogs run more freely there. Its all BLM land so camping is allowed.

Glad to hear it Devildog. We will look forward to meeting you, should be a great time. So far I know everyone that is coming and they are a good bunch and fun to ride with. I may slow down a bit this year, got a little wild at last years Jamboree. We have switched to Castle Rock Shores Campground. Its about 3 miles farther up the road from Parker but it is right at the trailhead. Don't know what to tell you about shims. Are your valves runing tight or loose. If they are tight you can have them ground but you need to get your final thickness determined accurately. In other words, how much would have to come off each shim and then carefully mark each one. If they are too loose, I would think that you could get some hardened shim stock, not hard to find, and cut 25mm circles out of it to put uner the existing shims. The existing shims sit in a bucket about, maybe .050" deep. If you would have to add 6 or 7 thousands, that still leaves enough depth to hold the stock shims in place. Of course, the shim stock shims would be captured in the bottom of the buckets under the stock shims.

We have changed the campsite from La Paz to a camping area right across the street from the trailhead so we just have to go across the street and we are riding. So, yes we will be good. So, Jbender we would expect you to be there now.

Looking forward to you being there. Others should get their reservations made to. They have open spaces for that time now but the lady said they stay busy that time of year. Anyone who wants to camp with my wife and I across the highway is welcome. We are fully self contained so we don't need any hookups and Its BLM land so camping is permited.

I can get the coordinates if you need them but I think this will do it for you. Looking at Google earth, the main trail starts after you drive around the lot that looks like there are trailers stored in it. This is across the main road from the Castle Rock Shores Campground. If you look at the trail from a perspective view, not the ground view, You will see that the canyon the trail goes into is a lot wider then it appears. It looks to me that there is plenty of room for camping. Also there is an entrance to the trails that comes in on an angle just a bit south down the main road. This angled road goes in behind some large rock mounds before merging witht he main trail. There is a hidden area about mid way on this trail that looks doable. Let me know if you need any more information then this. Jeanne and I will be going to Quartzite in mid Feburary for a treasure and gold hunting expo. Its really just an excuse to go and have some fun. We plan on checking out the area then to zero in. Looking at Google Earth, I did see some campers way back in on the trails so, they can get in. I'm hoping to get down the main trail about 200 to 300 yards so I don't have to worry about the dogs and the main road. Its all a matter of rather the trail is too sandy to drive on or not. I will find a remote camping area and you and Linda welcome to join us.

My motorhome weighs 41,000 lbs. so I can't go in soft stuff.

I'll keep that in mind when I go there in Feburary to check things out. Ah, shoot, don't worry. If you get stuck, I'll just pull you out with my Trooper. As long as your not sunk down in more then 18", were good.

Lenny: Can you give me more specifics about the Joyner Rally? The length of the ride, terrain, time and where to meet? I might be bringing a buddy along who recently had open heart surgery, would it be tough going on him do you think?

Lenny - that is the main road back to the Desert Bar that we discussed going to. It is about 4-5 miles away from the Castle Rocks Shores campground across from the gas station / market so it is a little ways away. It is closer to the city of Parker. Tom's house is about 2-3 miles away from Cienega road which Kinarfi gave a map of. Did you have a chance to go check this area out yet. I know it was around this time so wanted to see what you came up with. I plan on bringing my motorhome and trailer at this time to stay with everyone as I could just stay at Tom's house but probably not.

Just got back from my trip to Quartzite and Parker. Checked out the camping locations. The area directly across from Castle Rock Campground is for ATV and Offroad parking only, no camping. However the the road that comes in from the main highway about a couple hundred yards to the west, southwest of the ATV parking has plenty of area to camp. There are two spots close together. The first and larger one is at 34°15' 23.75"N and 114° 09'05.84"W on Google Earth. The second area is at 34°15'21.28"N and 114° 09'02.47"W. The access has to be from the west as the roads angle with the main highway is too tight when coming from the east. It looks to me that a large motorhome could get in fine unless its clearance is real low like 6-8". Each person should check it out for yourself before entering. Exiting will require someone a couple hundred feet up the road to watch for traffic because of the blind curve just to the wwest of the entrance. If you don't feel comfortable about the entrance, you can always go to he campground right across the road.

Kinarfi, I appreciate your suggestion for the other camping spot but It is quite a ways from those staying at the Castle Rock Campground. It will be a lot nicer for us all to be close together.

The trails are unbelieveable. These aren't just crusing trails you go down to look at the scenery, not at all. They are true 4x4 trails with lots of turns including ups and downs. Tricky spots and sharp dips. It has a lot of everything. Probably the best trails I have run across yet. They are simply a riot. The area is full of very rugged mountains with the trails threading through them. I'm going to predict that this will be the best Jamboree yet. This is our fifth Joyner Jamboree so we will be looking forward to a good turnout. So far looks like a real good bunch of people and fun guys to ride with.

Hello. I have a 2016 Massimo MSU 500. I was putting on a lightbar and i screwed up and didn't disconnect the battery so when i was taking of the positive cable to put on the power from the lightbar it sparked and now the utv has no power. I turn the key over and all i hear is a chirp. No lights or anything. Everything that comes from the battery to the jumper box up by the battery shows voltage but anything coming out does not such as to the winch or anything like that

Hey all, I was just wondering what you guys consider a necessary upgrade or spare part to have or mod onto your machine.
I'm going for a kind of shtf survival rig that's not going to be SUPER heavy and I'm looking at getting:
A spare belt (I keep seeing this mentioned everywhere I look so it must be important)
A spare tire and mount( So would I need a jack like one from an old jeep or something else?)
      Tire chains for the winter
And maybe a cargo bed upgrade so things don't slide out.
      Bumpers because duh.
I already installed high output lights and have a windshield, roof, back window, and winch. And I outfitted a Molle panel for the back of my passenger seat with extra supplies like food, first aid, and spare mags.
Any advise on increasing durability, longevity, and having something on hand because it's absolutely necessary would be a plus.
      Thanks so much!

Just bought new 2024 AODES 650 work cross 2 seated for my dad and he's very resilient at 79 and still cuts trees, splits and hauls firewood for heating home. He's begun using Polaris ATV with wagon more over his 80's toyo4x4 flatbed after the wood has been split. I figured UTV would be easier, more practical at times and more fun. It does not have a heater and would like suggestions on one that best suits his. He's tough but gets chilled easy now and a heater would make joyriding much better at this time of year. I Have found nothing that specifically Says it's made for this particular UTV I don't know what to make of the More generic Hacher versions Or how adaptable they are. I've read They have come from the factory with Heaters but It says nothing about Adding

DO NOT BUY ANY THING FROM HISUN Period! I had the axis 700 for 2 months when a rat or squirrel ate both wiring harnesses. (Main & ECM)Wanna know why? Because the manufacture of these things in their infinite wisdom use either, a soybean oil or a peanut oil to run the wires through the the wire loom. Hmmm i wonder why they would be inclined to eat the wires. So now I have $10K machine that I've only had for 2 months when all this happened and they will not warranty it at all. It is going to cost me $800 to $1000 to get this fixed. Here is a link to a video showing where we took our Hisun notice how many are there:

So counting mine, there are 16 of Hisun Axis on the lot that i took in for authorized dealer, with the exact same problem, plus other troubles that the mechanic explained to me. This particular place told me they are not going to work on them anymore. I will be posting this in as many places as possible to reach the masses. I hope its worth Hisun!
