Textron Stampede leaking antifreeze

Recommended Posts

I have had a Bad Boy Stampede for almost two years now. I really like the machine but it seems like everytime I run it over 40 mph for more then a couple hundred yards it starts leaking antifreeze. The mechanic says it's a seal in the water pump, I've went through three water pumps now. Does anyone else have this problem?  And if so is there a fix for this?

  • Alex changed the title to Textron Stampede leaking antifreeze

At this point, any reputable aftermarket parts outlet should have what you need. Very few of them are actual OEM parts. As far as exactly which one, I don't really think it matters. As long as it's different from the one you've been using. A roll of the dice is as good as what you've been getting. The OEM one likely has some sort of casting flaw, causing it to defeat the seal integrity. Unless I'm misunderstanding the problem.

When you're talking about water pump problems. There's really only the bearing, seal, and impeller. So when identifying your exact problem, you just give it a spin by hand. If it's a bearing problem, it'll feel gritty when turning it. If it turns smooth but leaks. Obviously it's only the replaceable seal. Seal kits are readily available for most of those models. Just make sure that it's a name brand pump, and preferably serviceable.

Full disclosure; I don't own a Textron, I've had some experience in water pumps though.

At the risk of sounding facetious, Find another mechanic!

I have a Bennche 700 EFI Bighorn. I’ve recently been unable to get it to start. After a little troubleshooting I realized my fuel pump was not pumping fuel. This weekend I emptied the gas and replaced it with new. I replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter and fuel injector. I also replaced the battery, spark plug and made sure all my fuses and relays were good. I have confirmed that the float on the fuel pump is not obstructed. The UTV is about 12 years old and has less than 100 hours on it. It has not run in over a year.  Not sure whats going on?!? After doing a little reading I'm leaning towards it being an issue with the ECU or perhaps a faulty wire in the wiring harness. Anyone have any ideas on where to start looking or what I could be dealing with? Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance!

My 2018 Hisun sector crew engine cut off after about 15 minutes run. There is no indicator of what is wrong, no error code just die and won't restart until it cool down. I notice that the fan is not running but the temp indicator is on low temp, no overheat indicator. I checked the radiator fluid, it is cool to touch.
Cooling fans are working, I can hear it running once awhile if I can get the engine warm up enough.  Thank you for all the help.

2016, Hisun 500 turns over great but Spark plug is firing when I turn the ignition key on. I’ve got good fuel pressure to the injector. Pulled plug out and it is wet with. gasoline. Air filter is clean. Turns over great just does not even try to pop or start.. I’ve checked off uses and they are good when I turn the key on I’m getting power to the injector.. I’m not hearing the injector pulsing, but may just be my hearing.. With the spark plug getting wet with gas I feel like the injector is pulsing and spraying. Any suggestions would be great. I don’t know the hours on the unit offhand, but it has 600 miles on it. Thank you for your comments and advanced.

I have a 2012 Massimo MSU 500 that died. I found that it didn't have spark and the fuel pump wouldn't run. Checked all fuses and none were blown.
Went through and replaced the ignition coil, HT lead and spark plug. Still no spark.
Thought it could be the fuse/relay box because I didnt' know much about the machine at that point so I replaced it. No spark.
Then I replaced the ECM just because I was running out of ideas. No spark.
I removed the 9 pin connector and hardwired it making sure that they were no wires got swapped. Still no spark.
Then I replaced the wiring hardness. In doing so, I replaced the 9 pin connector with new ones. I made sure all wires were matched up between the engine harness side and the other harness assembly. Still no spark.
I have no other ideas what to do. My fuel pump doesn't kick on and I have no spark. I have 12V on the fuel pump, ignition coil and fuel injector, but no ground from the ECM control.  I unplugged the fuel injector and waited for a diagnostic code but nothing ever came in. It makes me think that the ECM isn't powering up. I've checked for 12V on pins 18 (purple wire) and 15 (white and black wire). I also checked for ground on pin 2 (black wire). All are good.
I am out of options here and I have no idea what else it could be. I have all connections redone and are coated with dielectric grease. I've checked all easy things like fuses and making sure I have 12V in the right placed. I would appreciate any help.
