I am new to this forum. I too am a trooper owner and have one of the first ones off the line. I have spend more time working on my buggy then driving it. I have done many changes too, most are the same problems as the rest of the trooper owners. One of my main complains is that the dealer I purchased my trooper at does not give me any support. I'll ask about a problem and he more or less tells me that no one else is having the problems, but when I go to Joyner they give me the part for free to repair my trooper. My trooper only has 2300 miles on it and I have street tires on it. All my miles are on the pavement or on a good logging road. I do not drive my trooper as if I stole it. Mostly on logging roads in BC Canada. I use my trooper for hunting and site seeing. I am sure I am not the only one having heating problems while driving at a rpm over 3500 rpm. I am putting a oil cooler on it as I speak. I am now getting a lot of slack in the rear end. My front drive shaft york is very loose on the spline. I will be going to Joyner next week to see what they will do for me. They have given me replacement parts such as a rear drive shaft, all new braking system, clutch linkage , rear fenders. So far Joyner has treated me pretty decent. We will see what happens. I,ll let you know. snowbird

Second time plowing driveway, bracket where plow is screwed into bolt holes gave away causing plow to smash into steering rods snapping one. Joyner is sending parts to fix steering. I live in NH and we do not have a dealer or authorized repair shop. The only supposed repair shop told me he doesn't do work for Joyner. Dealer from GA where I bought it from told me to take it to local repair shop and they will take care of it. Let's see how that goes.

Welcome, that is an ugly picture, would think that would break like that. There are some things that have been done to the radiators on this forum, you may want to do a search for them.

Again, Welcome, got some good people here that are all willing to try to help.

Here's what I did, http://www.utvboard.com/index.php?s=&s...post&p=3848 the fan shroud extend in so air passes thru the radiator only where the fan is, pull in out a little so it can pull air across all the radiator.

Welcome to the forum.

You could try a lighter oil in the transmission for the cold weather or better yet change it to a good full synthetic oil. The pour point for a good 80/90 gear lube is a fair bit lower then your normal gear lube. Amsoil 75/90 synthetic gear lube pour point is -50 degrees. The information on the web site states that it helps for cold weather shifting.

For the over heating you should make sure your cooling system is full. There is a small hose coming off the end of the block by the thermostat (closest to the front of the buggy). Follow the hose to where it goes into the tee. Take the hose off at the tee and lift it higher then the motor and fill the rad. You will need two persons to do this as anti freeze will leak unless some one holds their finger over the port where you removed the hose. I would install a new hose clamp as the ones they use are not the best. The trooper seems to have a air lock problem unless you fill the system in this manner. The other thing to do is to add a water wetter to your rad. Walmart has one for around $6.00. Royal purple also makes one. This will help a bit for the over heating problems. Snowbird

Thanks for the help and pics, I noticed on other posts that some people were having problems with fan blowing in the wrong direction. So I decided to check mine. It appears that my trooper is blowing away from the radiator. Is this right? Shouldn't be blowing air towards it?

The fan should pull the air through the rad, heading from front to rear. This is the natural way the air flows while driving, other wise the fan would be fighting against the natural air flow. Snowbird

I still have not received the parts from Joyner to fix my steering rod. I call there and no one answers. I've been dealing with Mcoys where I bought the plow and enclosure from. Supposedly the person the dealer was dealing with quit and no one took over what he was working on.

You are not going to get any help from Joyner, they are gone / out of business for now. You will have to get your part from another dealer's stock or make the part yourself. There are a couple dealers on this site. Hopefully they will step up and contact you.

Joyner got an extension they will close end of this week, I am in constant contact with them few times a day, I had a pallet show up today with a ton of parts I ordered and even some I didn't *shrug* but as of 4 hours ago I got them sending a transmission my way as well as every last cable in the warehouse

I am lucky enough to have a spare set of cables, the electric 4 wd engaging unit., master cyl, rotors and more. I added to my parts supply over the last couple of years. Unfortunately, nothing big like diffs, trans or engine.

Would it be worth while to start a topic with spares that people have?

I am lucky enough to have a spare set of cables, the electric 4 wd engaging unit., master cyl, rotors and more. I added to my parts supply over the last couple of years. Unfortunately, nothing big like diffs, trans or engine.

Would it be worth while to start a topic with spares that people have?

I think it's good to all work together to keep the Trooper alive. If it stays alive, it's chance of being picked up by someone is much greater. We don't need people saying "this piece of junk, can't even get parts for it". That kind of talk could kill the line quickly. If we share the parts we have, things will be better for all including ourselves.

I had to cancel my order for an enclosure two days ago. I was really hoping that I would have received it before they closed their doors. Also still waiting for rods to fix my steering that broke. Dealer ensured me that they would get parts needed. I hope to be on here someday talking about how great it is driving my trooper. Ice has already melted on my lake. So I guess there's always next year.

      I have a Coleman Outfitter 550 purchased in January 2022 that runs and operates pretty well.  65 hours on it so far.   It is a work vehicle for my 10 hilly acres with two 1 acre woods and 5 acres of "lawn".  The rest is under a lake. 
      My parking brake does not seem to have any grip.  It worked when new but after a month or so, it is just almost useless.     I press the parking brake pedal hard until it stops. Still, it won't hold even on slight inclines.   I don't see the caliper move as I press the brake pedal down.  There seems to be plenty of pad left on it and the rotor is shiny as if it is rubbing a little when applied, but not enough to stop it from rolling. 
      Any thoughts on possible causes?

      Spent today at a Honda dealership looking at their 520 side by side, then on the way home past our Lowes noticed they had several new UTVs on site, so we U-turned and ducked in there. We were impressed that all that came for $9,999 metal whole length skid plate, nice sized bed, roof, windshield, side mirrors, winch, upgrade looking tires… all of which would have added thousands of dollars to an already expensive Honda 520. Now Honda does have a great reputation from my trusted UTV experienced buddy, so it has that going for it.

      Put a new carb on the 500 to replace the leaking OE one.  Machine idles fine and mid and top end runs great.  It tends to have a hesitation right from the start - bottom end.   Thinking it may be the air/fuel screw??  I didn't do anything with the carb out of the box and is it direct replacement for my machine.  Of interest is the manual choke doesn't seem to work very good now.... wonder is it getting too much air?
