I was on the Joyner website is this what they consider a Hard Top? They had a picture of a new one with one that looked different but that ones not listed.

That is actually a Roof Rack... I believe we are still waiting on being able to get the full hard enclosures, roofs, and etc. for the t4... If you lived near us we could of made you one and put it on:)

Is the bottom of the roof rack made out of the same material as the back of the T2/T4? Would it work to keep rain and sun off of you or would it be in addition to the hard top?

Our roof is made from aluminum diamond plate, but I was concern about heat. After being out in 100 degrees there was not a problem. Stayed nice and cool. Our dune antenna attaches to the roof and I can stand or haul anything on the roof. Will post pics soon, just getting over a summer cold. Bummer!

Is the bottom of the roof rack made out of the same material as the back of the T2/T4? Would it work to keep rain and sun off of you or would it be in addition to the hard top?

I have seen people use the roof rack as just a roof...and it will keep the sun and water off of you. I have never road in one with just a roof rack in the rain but if it still drizzles on you some you can always take some of this plastic like material and fill around the roof rack and the cage where there is a little space. I will find out what those one people used.

I received a full canvas enclosure for a Trooper last week and it's not bad, but I will make a few changes with it to make it user friendly. In it's current form, the front wind screen can't be zipped down and it takes to long to put on & take off. I'm thinking ether a zip for the front screen or cut that section off completely and add Velcro hook & loop strips. The other change would be to add pop dome hardware instead of eyelets for the existing bolts to fasten into. The reason for these changes are two fold. Firstly, on a hot day or when the front screen gets very muddy, it needs to come off and secondly to get it off you have a lot of unscrewing to do including removing the light bar. Pop domes are the same as what's used in the marine industry and bolt straight into the existing hardware. It's a no-brainier really. I'll post photos of the un-modified enclosure on the Trooper soon.

Yep it does need to be tighter. There are no eyelets in the door sill area, just a row of Velcro. I don't want to stick on double-sided Velcro onto the sill to receive it so will leave until I get the pop domes. It should tighten up real good though.

I think I'm going to go for the roof rack, since I have very little rain here, and I like to take long hauls if possible. I want to do a coast to coast run in Mexico next fall with some friends. We would start in San Felipe, and go over to Ensenada and back. Would use a lot of the roads used by the BAJA races, and the extra space will be necessary to carry extra tires, gas, camping gear and such.

With the roof rack it looks like just 6 bolts or so connect it for the t4, so should be easy enough to take on and off, since I have only 3 inch cleareance coming into my garage at this time.

Now that sounds like a fun ride, is it open to others? I've been watching the baja 1000, my son and friend just ran it, I he said he finished 8th in class and 52nd overall & just over 19 hours, 275x, motorcycle > 250,

I wonder how my tires would last on a trip like that.

Detbohica, a T4 with a hard top enclosure and canvas doors with a roof/gun rack is on it's way to me as we speak. NZ gets bucket loads of rain and the T4 will be used for Transporting elders on Maori land and for hunting. I would think just the roof rack for you in Mexico would be all you need.

I changed my mind from my last post concerning the upgrades after I took the T2 for a blast with the stock enclosure on. What I've had done is added eyelets for the sill instead of Velcro, a zip for the front screen with tie downs and Marine hardware to secure the lower Firewall and rear lower panel ends. I was going to go the whole hog ,with making it easy to take off and put on but now my thinking is just leave it on. I will post photos tomorrow (my daughter borrowed my Camera) and it's fair to say,"this is the way to go". The upgrade cost was nz$225 for two enclosures.

I've been thinking about a heater to go with an enclosure or to just keep my feet warm. Aircraft use the heat off the exhaust pipe to heat the air and blow it into the cabin. I was think of a shroud or something over the headers and suck air from there up through the area above the front driveling and blow it out on my feet with a muffin fan or something.

Any ideas or comments? <_<

for heat.... it would be a little more expensive but using the engine coolant run thruogh a heater core would be better. I've looked at universal kits for around $300. The only problem with heat from the exhaust might be the fumes pushed into the cab. .... just my thoughts. A.

Been thinking about that and it would take a hole in the header pipes to get gassed, other concern might be sucking up dust that gets in the engine compartment. The good part is your only moving air, not liquid.

We have installed cig lighters in ours and have had people buy those little heaters from walmart or wherever. You know. Its not hard to do and prob. less expensive

I have just had a full enclosure made for a Renegade from scratch by a marine trimmer here and it is very very good. I'll take some photos tomorrow next to the stock Trooper enclosure so you can see the difference and post it in the Renegade section. Seeing is believing just how good this enclosure is.

Hey all!

My husband and I bought one of the first hard tops Joyner released for the T2. The top, front windshield area and the back window area are all molded of the same fiberglass as the body. It is also the same color as the body. The windshield and back window are plexiglass. The doors are soft, and attach to the door opening with screws. They opened with a huge zipper, much like a tent door. We did not like the doors at all, so we took them off. The door around the bottom where you get into the buggy stuck up above the frame about an inch, creating a real tripping hazard if you tried to get in and out of the buggy in a hurry.

As for bringing in dust, that does happen, but not intolerable. Running without the doors keeps enough air flow for us. There is a little more engine heat in the cab, but again not intolerable. All in all, it has been a good investment for us, simply due to the protection from the sun it gives. It will also help keep you dry in a gentle rain....hopefully the wind isn't blowing!

Used to be on ridearizona.com, Rocmoc invited me over. I'm still stumbling around the site, but I'll get there.

A little history,

I ordered our T2 for my hubby as a surprise, and took delivery on it in May of 08. Like every other trooper (and any atv for that matter) owner, we also had our issues with it. But we have worked the bugs out of it, and are incredibly happy with it.

We take it out nearly every weekend. As a matter of fact, I'm going to have it loaded and ready to go tonight when hubby gets home - and we are gone until about 10 tonight. Arizona summer night rides are sweet!

I was just on Team Joyner's website looking at the hard tops for the T2 - this is the first I have seen the camo hard top with soft doors - that is exactly what ours looked like. Again, we did not like the doors because of the way they zipped open, and the tripping hazard they created. When you opened the windows, the flap just hung, with no where to tuck it. We assumed it would fly in the wind. We never left the house with it, while the doors were attached. The doors are not easily removable, either. Hubby says he is going to modify removable jeep doors and attach those.

Well I have had an absolute crap of a week. My Uncle who has been fighting cancer for 20 years has finally lost his battle but the real shock was the man who designed and made my Renegade Enclosure, Leigh at only 47 years old, passed away, however my 98 year old Grandma, bless her, survived 3 small Strokes this week.

kandlinaz, don't throw away those soft doors, your need them for winter but I would suggest you upgrade the zips. If you don't, your know what I mean the next time you go through mud with them. Upgrade to thick plastic marine grade zips.

      Put a new carb on the 500 to replace the leaking OE one.  Machine idles fine and mid and top end runs great.  It tends to have a hesitation right from the start - bottom end.   Thinking it may be the air/fuel screw??  I didn't do anything with the carb out of the box and is it direct replacement for my machine.  Of interest is the manual choke doesn't seem to work very good now.... wonder is it getting too much air?

      Hey guys! Newbie here. I'm an old man who's better with plowing a mule (4-legged kind) than these newfangled beasts. I, and a friend of mine, just bought new Coleman sxs and are having to finish the assembly. I've been reading on this site and I'm falling on the mercy of you experts. The only way I'm an expert is that an "ex" is a has been, and a spurt is a drip under pressure. LOL First off, the 2 buggies have no ignition switches. They seem to mount on the dash, not the opening in the steering wheel shaft cover, so we ordered new ones that are supposed to fit. They are 8 inches long, and have a 4-wired white plugin which is slightly rectangled when looking at the end of the plug. The trouble is there's nothing to plug into. There is a three-wire grey plug close enough to reach the four-wire plug, but of course, they are not compatible. 
      Secondly, the blinker, light, ect. unit on steering wheel just spins around when touched. I see no way in heaven or earth to secure it. I've looked at a diagram on the Powersports site, but can't detect how it mounted. Fellows I'd be so grateful for any help with this. Me and my mule will even plow your garden for free, for your help. LOL

      Just received delivery of a 2024 AMP Pro.  Thought I'd start a thread with my impressions as I use it and learn more.  There doesn't seem to be a whole lot of real-world usage information out there on this model.  Hope this will help others as they research.
      Intended Use Cases
      Fire mitigation / slash removal from a 5 acre forested and well-gamble-oaked property.  The previous owners thought as much about fire mitigation as I do about fashion: not much. Snow removal Stump pulling General hauling (rock, lumber, etc.) Weimaraner energy depletion.  Wasn't an original use case, but a nice added bonus.  Experiences So Far
      Wasn't impressed that two of the bumpers on the underside of the bed where it sits upon the frame were missing.  The metal on metal contact has damaged the powder coating and the frame.  I expect a little better QC.
      I've only put a few hours on it, so not a ton to report on usage.  It isn't quiet; it's silent.  I can't even detect an electric note from the motor. I removed (and subsequently replaced) the motor cover noticed that the motor is German and made by Schambuller.  The motor controller is Italian and made by Dana TM4.  Given the operating specs of both I found on the web, I suspect both are higher quality than the previous Navitas (which is supposed to be decent).  The motor is rated at 25 hp and 71.5 lb-ft of torque.  It feels very powerful.  All the torque is delivered instantly, if desired.
      The bed is huge and has an electric dump as standard.  Great feature but would like it to go up a bit more.  Probably not feasible from an engineering perspective, but I want and I need ;).
      Power steering is nice, but vague.  Probably common to many UTVs, but I am accustomed to more direct results from input.  Plan early and plan often.
      In our first full day of usage, we hauled about 1/2 as much slash as the entire rest of the year when I was doing it by hand cart.  I may get fatter, but I'll also get more done.  After a few days of usage, the battery meter has gone down by 1/10th.
