  1. i have 300 over 400 in the front, i am going to try 350 over 400, 200's are going to be to soft in the front. The 300's are working fine but i think 350's over 400 will be better. My 600's on the rear are 10" with the 8" 350's. I am going to go to 8" 450's because the back is transfering weight to easy. when turning you can fell it drop to the 600's. The trooper axle weights also reflect this.
  2. Lenny, are you using stock springs, or did you find others One or two springs in the front. the stock spring is a single dual rate spring, it wound different on the bottom than the top. If you fell like you are getting thrown the shock is not stiff enough on rebound, If you are felling the small bumps driving into them your compresion is too stiff for the spring or the spring is to stiff. In my case on the back the tender is too soft letting it get into the 600 to soon which the shock is not stiff enough to hold on rebound so the car bucks, not bad but it does. Stiffen the tender and rebound to slow everything down to absorb some of the energy. Try to keep your nitrogen at around 200 psi.
  3. Keep looking, you will find deals with this economy. The shaft size does not need to be bigger than 5/8 and the 2.0 is big enough. I would not get anything longer than the 8.5, with the shock angle in the rear that is still alittle to long. You really want to have 2 springs per shock. The 8.5 in the front is the way to go, made more of a difference than the back. This last weekend i used about 7" of the front shock and 5" on the rear, the rear was getting into the 600 to quick. The trooper did drop about 1" in height after the weekend. Make sure they are rebuildable and you can get parts.
  4. Congrats, she sure looks cute, see you did not pop. Now the fun starts, wait till she starts smiling back at you.
  5. I think it was around 120 total, it is enough to tear the running gear up.
  6. Buggy world in santee ca, has put the turbo in, i have seen the instalation, it is very clean and makes good hp
  7. I am getting ready to hinge mine, I am going to go to the junck yard and find a car with a nice hinge that will work, do not know if i will do the front or back, let you know when i do it.
  8. finally got to put some miles on the trooper, the front felt pretty good, I think it is alittle soft on the tender spring. I am going to pull the 350 out of the rear and put it in front to replace the 300. That will give me 350 over 400 on the front, the shock valving felt good so i will leave it alone. The rear is to soft, i am going to get 450"s and put them over the 600 in back. The 350"s arent really doing much, when you pitch the car it wants to lay over, so it starts steering itself, the back needs to be stiffer. Also i am going to stiffen the rebound on the shock, it wants to buck when you are hitting the whoops, not bad but it is doing it. The shocks are 100% better than stock, the ride is very good but it can be better. I hit some spots i would have been on my lid before. I also had a lower ball joint come out while climbing a very steep hill. My son was watching and said it came out just as i started up the hill. How the cv joint did not come apart i do not know because i was reving in 2nd gear all the way up the hill. What i noticed when i looked to see what happened is the shank on the bolt does not go through the grove on the ball joint. The bolt was still tight but the bolt is not big enough to lock the end in. I am going to drill mine out to the next size bigger bolt, run the bolt all the way through with a nut on the outher end so the shank of the bolt is in the grove. If this happened while going fast you could find yourself in not to good a spot.
  9. For clarity, the cap i pulled off was the cap on the engine for putting oil in. Understood! True, the two opening tie together, I was seeing the same as you saw at the breather filter which is the only out to the atmosphere for vapors in the engine, Kinarfi.
  10. Lenny, i think you are on the right track, the weight of the balls should keep the port closed once you can feed the pump without having to much of a low preasure area in the tube. I guess if we ever go on a ride we will know who has the most balls!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's bad! Flatbed, Kinarfi
  11. I just ran my engine with the oil cap off, I could fell a even pulse coming out, no smoke at all, when i covered it with my hand i got a slight film of oil on my hand with very little or no preasure build up. Hope this helps you out. There should be a vacum line coming of the intake with a pcv valve to keep preasure out of your crank case.
  12. sounds like more than one (ball), the 1/4 inch works because that is the only place it can draw from, these pumps pump alot of fuel at alot of preasure, it will do everything it can to suck the fuel into the pump, when you get done the engine might run better because it maintains a better constant on the fuel preasure, we are only able to read the fuel when we are setting still, it might be droping undr full load.
  13. Lenny, if it is pulling the balls away, the orfice is not big enough on the side it is drawing on, go big so the volume you can pull through does not need it from the other side.
  14. Since i have added the sump to the bottom of my tank, with the suction and return line going to it i have not had a problem, before i welded the sump on i drilled holes where the sump was going to be in a patern of 5 like on a dice, so the sump would get plenty of fuel to the suction, but still be able to have the return line not contaminate the suction with hot fuel. I have not had a problem running out of fuel going up or down hill.
  15. Try starting the engine with the oil cap off, see if it is puffing or smoking out the fill spout. That will let you know if you are getting alot of crankcase preasure. You only have to do this with the engine idiling.
  16. The mini jeep looks pretty cool, looks like it is a utv with a jeep body, is it belt drive, aut or stick?
  17. Kinarfi, Im sorry, i am laughing, but how many times do i have to read the picture. I don't know if that would work as it might sifon air, but it mite. That is sort of what i have except mine is in a sump in the middle of the tank with the return line returning in the middle of the sump. I do like your method of comunicating
  18. first, the needle seat needs to atleast draw 50 gallons and hour, all the gas that is used, engine and return fuel has to come throught the needle seat, also are you reverseing the fuel lines, front to back and back to front, I have heard that the stock fuel pumps do not like air, the vanes go out easy, mine has had air in it and has done fine. Would a spring between the balls help in the pounding of the needle seat, the seat might be better to be made of a plastic instead of metal so it will take the abuse. with your stup the air is goin to get out because it will want to rise no matter what angle the car is. I would also be trying to make something but i am working on my hot rod model a. your doing good lenny.
  19. I think the holly needles will be way to small, remember this is on a suckion line for a fuel injected engine, you need to have alot of fuel flow, Lenny, i think it would be a good idea for the fuel to be able to flow around the body that holds the needle, that way it wont be importand for the needle to be at one end or the other when cruzzing.
  20. Lenny, what do you think of making slide with a rod instead of a ball, Have the rod have a needle seat on the end. with the steep hills it is going to go one way or the other
  21. maybe you should try a baseball, i was going to say football but that might be hard to seal
  22. I do not see where you need 4 ports, It should work with only 3. Center is the suction line, front port goes to the back of the tank, and the back goes to the front. Make the center port so there is no way the ball seals on it. Make the tube around 8" long.
  23. You do not reliaze how hard the stock tires are untill you put something else on, just getting a tire that gives alittle to the ground makes a big difference. glad your gear fits. Sorry about haveing to come home on 3 legs, glad to hear you are home.
  24. lenny, with the tee long enought with a good size ball i do not think it would pull the ball away.
