  1. I saw the video a while back and they look pretty good to me. I still like the Joyner concept of a car engine over a Motorcycle engine, but you can just tell this Cat is going to be a top predator. I know an Arctic Cat dealer you can trust, Arctic Cat of DFW. Their new website is http://dfwarcticcat.com/ & this is a division of some business you might of heard about before called No Limits Powersports. Cheers Mike.
  2. Rick I have advised my customers to try Joyner Australia, only because he is the closest, but I never hear anything from him after I have sent emails. I’ve even supplied one of his customers with parts because he can’t be bothered. I really need to make sure my ex-customers are looked after as there is no way I will leave them in the lurch and will go all out to source parts for them. Thanks for your offer and will mention your name as enquiries come in. I am working on something concerning Joyner parts, so we will see how this works out. I really feel bad for my customers and to be honest, that's probably the main reason I’ve kept going for the last six months. Cheers Mike.
  3. Thank you all for your kind words. It really was a painful decision but I really had no choice. I still love the Joyner brand and that’s one good reason to move on now and keep those memories. One of the other reasons that I have come to this decision is the continuation of the earthquakes that are slowly killing our economy. Another two big ones this week feel on the same day and another 150 commercial buildings destroyed. We are witnessing the death of Christchurch and we as a nation can afford it. All that been said, that’s not the main reason I have called it quits, not even close. It would be impossible not to continue popping into UTV Boards every day for a look and don’t worry, I’m not going to disappear from here. After all, I have to keep up my contacts to get spare parts for my Trooper. Oh the irony in that. Cheers Mike.
  4. This afternoon (NZ time) I have decided to stop importing Joyner in New Zealand. This especially includes any spare parts and for that I feel bad for my customers over here that need them. The decision has not come lightly, but it’s one I’m forced to make. I wish the guys at Joyner USA Inc. all the best as I do all the Joyner dealers that gone through so much pain in the 18 months or so. These are good Joyner people and hope you Joyner owners will carry on supporting them. I admire them for staying loyal and hope the brand takes off again. A lot of hard work has gone into the new Joyner models, in particularly by Ken Morris. I just hope the manufactures don’t stuff it up . I too am very loyal to the brand, but can no longer entertain the thought doing any business with the Joyner manufactures for reasons I’ll keep to myself, for now. Take care you guys & gals and for those going to the Jamboree have a bloody good time and stay safe. Ka kite anō Mike.
  5. It’s the same bolt pattern as Artic Cat which is 4 X 115. ITP has rims and wheels that will fit plus check out this thread http://www.utvboard.com/topic/392-parts-pieces-and-information-for-our-troopers-joyners/ ITP’s site is http://www.itptires.com/utilityatv/ss212.html Cheers Mike
  6. Welcome dynamic1, that’s unbelievable commitment and sacrifice that you have made. Thanks for helping make this world a better place. Steve, the very first upgrade on your list should be a muffler. Even with a high powered rifle, the Trooper is just too noisy and will push game away. It will go from sounding like a Rally car to your Grandmas car with a good muffler. Cheers Mike.
  7. I like the sound of it. It kind of reminds me of a Commando four seater build No Limits did 3 or 4 years ago, but this time with teeth. If I went to a six, I would look a a Lexus or Toyota 2JZ-GE 3L. It’s light, powerfully and has many upgrades in it’s standard form. It’s the same engine the Supra RZ used so easy to add the stock twin turbocharges and in sequential configuration the output goes from 169kW( 227hp) up to 206kW (267hp) at 5600 rpm. That would be nice in mud holes. The tranny is a 5 speed auto with Tiptronic, the best of both worlds and the block looks like it would fit into the Troopers frame. It’s more square than long. If your will to fabricate a new rear, then a longer Jeep engine might be the way to go. Pushing the rear seats up is going to give you more room and the rear passengers better forward viewing, kind of like a RZR-4. Your going you have many issues to troubleshoot and I know there will be plenty of people here following your progress and adding their thoughts. I can wait to see this beast. Cheers Mike.
  8. I love MOAB and I’ve never been there. roc 2.00 minutes in where the RZR rolled backwards is exactly the reason manual surly must be better than auto for driving on rocks. The only ground I’ve driven on is mud and marbles(metal roads) in anything 4X4 so you should now, but surely you must have more control with a clutch & accelerator than just an accelerator. Nice video.
  9. It is happening, Garth would be the best one to answer this question. Not long to wait now as far as I know. The website is delayed but that too should be all go soon. Cheers Mike.
  10. cahill valley, I had a quick look and from that I can normally tell if they are legitimate or get alarm bells ringing. I got alarm bells my friend. You just made a the right call. That’s not to say that they are a suitcase company, but further investigation would be needed first. I only looked at this for five minutes and found two alarm bells that stops me from looking any further. Firstly, a lot of suitcase companies use similar name of a successful Chinese enterprise. I Googled Jingyu Trading Company Ltd and two similar names that are legitimate companies showed up, Shanghai Jingyu International Trading Co, LTD and Guangdong Jingyu Trading Co, LTD. They are trying to guide you into believing that there may be a link with one of these other Jingyu Trading Companies. One manufactures chemicals & the other makes clothing. Nothing to do with Powersports. Secondly, I found your Husqvarna that you were looking at on the China Suppliers website, then I looked in the ‘Company Info Box’ where they boldly state annual turnover 50 to 100 Million USD$. Not bad, but have a look in the member since, it says 2011. Now this only means that the have been a member of “China Supplies” website since 2011, however a company with such a massive turnover would have their own website and yes, a business email. I could not find a stand alone website for this massive company, that’s a big bell right there. The way I see it, you just saved $6800 so don’t feel bad about not grabbing a bargain. When you get the Husqvarna, take some photos and post them on here. We would love to here all about it. Cheers Mike
  11. Todd, my PM limit may have been full. I've deleted some PM's so should work next time. Cheers Mike.
  12. OK that’s good and the odds are in your favour now. If this company is authentic you will save on the deal. Next step is to look at the Husqvarna 4421 model and try and find out what goes wrong with them. I know you said there is a 1 year warranty, but how hard will this be for you to enforce this from another country. International warranty's are legitimate, but you don’t wont to rely on it so see if this Husqvarna model has a good name first. There will be other hidden costs like storage before you arrange a pick up, bank fees to wire your money and if you live inland away from the port of arrival shipping can be expensive. I live in another country but once shipped a car from Chicago to the port of L.A and it was very expensive. Parts and servicing will not be a problem for you. If you like you can post or PM me the details of the trading company and I’ll give you my thoughts on them, I’m pretty good at finding out about Chinese companies. Cheers Mike.
  13. Please don’t go through any website like this at all without researching the company involved first. There are more suitcase companies than ever on sites like China Direct. A suitcase company is basically nothing but photos on the internet. If it sounds to good to be true, be very careful. There are good deals to be found and Parallel Importing as it is known & can be a great way to secure a bargain. Add in shipping, tax, port charge fees and with something as big as a Husqvarna 4421 and the fact that you have no Warranty means that even if the company you are dealing with is legitimate, the risk is far from over. You might loose a few bucks, or you could save thousands making this sort of deal a gamble. Up to you. Cheers Mike.
  14. There are plenty of dealers here selling Unichip. Rather than talk to a salesman trying to tell me all the good bits I Googled for reviews on it from customers that have instilled one. This should be more helpful. http://www.autoanything.com/performance-chips/61A2776A0A0.aspx Cheers Mike.
  15. The name rings a bell, but only know what I just read on their website. I’ll do some research, but as you can already tell, this is not my expertise at all. 2scoops, the New Zealand distributer details you gave me and I also found are Australian. The “.au” at the end of the website and email addresses means Australia and the phone number that starts with +61 is the Australian international calling code. I’m pretty sure somebody in Christchurch, NZ does sell these and will have a look. Cheers Mike.
  16. I need a R2 and R4 to use as a model to get a full enclosure fitted out. If you live near Carlisle, Kentucky and would like a below cost enclosure for your efforts, please contact me. It should only take two weeks, but as we found out last time, it can take a lot longer. I also need a Trooper to go back for a couple of days to re-design just the soft front panel. If anybody lives close that owns a Commando two or four seater, I’d also love to hear from you. Your UTV will be used for promo photos, so will need to be clean. Cheers Mike.
  17. I need a Trooper for a few days so that I can get GCL Enclosures to re-design the front Vinyl Panel for a full soft enclosure. The time needed could get extended and is out of my control, but as it is just one panel, it should be a couple of days. Your UTV will be used for promo photos, so will need to be clean. I used plumbers Trooper initially and what was supposed to be two weeks, blew out to five weeks. I am forever grateful for plumber putting up with me and understandably so, is not to keen to go back. Thanks again plumber. We also have one new Black Trooper T2 full enclosure ready to go with a Lexan Windshield. Contact Pacific Eagle USA For those that have made some changes to their Trooper roll cage but would still like a professional enclosure, this may be possible. Lenny is considering this, so contact him. His idea is to order just the completed panels unsown together and get a locale upholster to finish the job off after re-measuring. Only good if you have gone smaller needless to say. Cheers Mike.
  18. 2scoops, I see what you mean, sorry about that. Here is the 1.1 and 1.2 engine blocks and heads/ 1.1 Chery Block http://cherylist.com/CHERY-QQ-SWEET-CYLINDER-BLOCK-87543.aspx 1.1 Chery Head http://cherylist.com/CHERY-QQ-SWEET-CYLINDER-HEAD-87636.aspx 1.2 Chery Block http://cherylist.com/CHERY-A1-KIMO-S12-CYLINDER-101282.aspx 1.2 Chery Head http://cherylist.com/CHERY-A1-KIMO-S12-CYLINDER-HEAD-101202.aspx It doesn’t look likely at all. Cheers Mike.
  19. A quick look at a Chery A1 that has a 1.2L Chery engine suggests that Murphy's law is in place. I can not see any common parts including shafts, flywheels and the Clutch case. They have all got different part numbers. They do however match up with a Chery QQ which is a 0.8L and a 1.1L. A further check into the Renegades part numbers for the above parts mentioned and bingo, they match. So a Trooper and Renegade engine and transmission is out of the two Chery QQ models and both Joyner’s & QQ’s share the same tranny. There is no common connection with a Cherry A1 which has the 1.2L engine. Sorry 2scoops, but there is no easy way forward for the two to mate up. Cheers Mike.
  20. I haven’t noticed the 1.2L before at all. Interesting enough, the 1.1, 1.3, 1.6 and 2.0 Chery engines are based on the old English Ford OHV engines. This breaks away from that mould a bit more, making it more of a Chery engine. I agree, just a different head, firing bigger cannon balls. If you enlarge the two photos of the engines and flick between them, there is no difference right down to the Clutch assembly, but all this suggests is that the two engines are so close in specifications that they have use the same photo. If the 1.2 mates up as it looks like it would then why wouldn’t you look at this as a future replacement engine over the 1.1L. The way to find out for sure is find a Chery car with a 1.2-SQR472FC engine and find out what tranny it is using, then look up the parts manuals and see if the clutch case is the same as our Troopers, that would be nice. Our Chery clutch case part # is QR512-1701101, if they match then dig deeper into the other parts like shaft connections and flywheel. I might have a quick look later when I get some time. Price wise would be similar to a 1.1L replacement engine, but I have not got prices I could quote at all. You would have to go independent from Joyner to purchase a 1.2L so push the “Inquire now” button on the 1.2L Chery engines page for a quote. Cheers Mike.
  21. Interesting enough, the 1.9 Chery engine has exactly the same measurements as the 1.0 Chery 634 x 698 x 687, it only weighs 63kg more, has double the rated power and has emission:Euro IV as opposed to the 1L emission standard of: Euro III. Here's the thing though, I know the price of the 1.9L would be far more expensive than the 1L and could you call it a UTV if used in a Renegade or Trooper frame with that huge cc rating. Maybe a new classification like a UTV-R (Utility Task Vehicle-Road Legal) that is also road legal. Makes a lot of sense, sort of like a Jeep that is more for Off-road than On-road, but has all the legal requirements for Highway driving in all Countries, not just some States, to drive on the Highway to your favourite track and back home again. The extra price of the 1.9L Diesel engine would be offset by the fact that you could drive it on the road and would imagine any manufacture will sell plenty of units. Without legal Road use, the retail price may be too high to get a commercial enterprise going ahead. That’s looking at it from a manufacturing point of view, the way I see it. There would be other costs like a new suspension setup, bigger wheels and tires, the tranny that mates up would be heavier and more expensive, plus all the extra road legal requirements like fixed doors and auto glass windshields or what ever they may be. That said I agree, what a vehicle it would be, but IMHO it would be far too expensive. Cheers Mike.
  22. There’s no doubt about it, Joyner UTVs and Buggies right from the beginning have been good concepts. The Buggies have made it as one of the main Buggy brands Globally and the UTVs I feel will have the same success. roc’s right, there are a lot of very good UTV models out there currently and one I like is the RZR4. Now, those who go back a few years here and on the other forum already know how fond I am of RZRs and Polaris in general, NOT, but I do like the RZR4. A short wheel base, purpose built four seater is a great concept too. It can be used in stock form or turned into a very stable UTV racing machine. Oh but here is the thing, they and most the other brands are still powering their UTV’s with Motorbike engines. This is where Joyner has got it right from the beginning. The Commando was the first out there to use a car engine and tranny and the Commando 4 seater was the first true 4 seater UTV (how many followed our lead there), the Renegades and Troopers were the first EFI DOHC engines and Joyner was the first to choose Chery. Others are starting to follow our lead as they did with the Commando four seater. John Deere's new Gator XUV 825i looks a bit like our Renegade with a JD theme, it’s engine is 812cc DOHC Chery (the same engine as the Joyner Renegade) and JD has billed this the best Gator ever. They would be right. Why is an automotive style engine out of a car better than a ATV Quad style engine out of a Motorbike? A UTV is more of a car than a Bike for a start, the car engine and tranny is designed to drive four wheels to the Bikes one, the car engine & tranny is designed to haul larger loads than Bike engines & trannys. The result is the Bike engine & tranny is working overtime to do what it is asked whilst the car engine & tranny is doing what it is designed for and the Bike engines drivetrain is under incredible strain. The by-product of this is a shorter engine & tranny life for Motorbike based UTVs and much higher fuel consumption. Why don’t the big brands follow our lead with Automotive style engines like John Deere? Because they are all ATV or Motorbike manufactures and they want to sell and use their engines. This is where Joyner can go that most other manufactures can’t and that’s one mother of an advantage. All Joyner needs is an evolution of it’s models to improve strength and part failure and I believe the 2011 Joyner UTVs are a big step in the right direction. The 2011 will not be as good as a 2012 and so on, this is part of the evolution all manufacture follow, so just as long as you understand, regardless of what I have said the 2011 Trooper wont be perfect, that’s an impossibility. Cheers Mike.
  23. Try and contact Bob at No Limits Powersports. There is a retro fit manual 2wd/4wd actuator that will be available for older Trooper models. They might be in the first container that has already landed at No Limits. His email is [email protected] Cheers Mike.
  24. I think any UTV would have trouble keeping up with the three Musketeers and their pumped out Troopers. Cheers Mike.
