  2. Yeah, from that document I did the figure 3 balanced charging as opposed to the figure 3 "perfectly" balanced charging. While conceptually I get that the "perfectly" is a little better, it is also more complicated to set up since you have to work out the resistances of the cable runs and any connections. In this case just balanced charging is good enough. Another thing to keep in mind is that it's a bigger issue with "dumb" lead-acid batteries. Each of the new LiFePO4 batteries has their own smart BMS to help manage balances, plus parallel in general helps balance out batteries vs the serial setup Hisun used with the awful Discover 6V batteries. I did use equal length brand new 1/0 AWG cables for my connections except for re-using the two final cables that connected to the motor controller.
  3. I bought a 2017 Stampede 900 last fall that was new, old stock with less than 5 hours on it thinking that I would be getting a relatively trouble free UTV as compared to buying a used Polaris or CanAm, or Honda, etc. It's been a little quirky, but reliable. What I thought was just a minor issue with this model, the difficulty in shifting between R, N, L, H, etc., was just a characteristic of this model is now a big problem. I had to climb two very steep trails to get to the upper meadow of our hunting property, which seemed to stress the UTV more than usual since I was carrying some lumber to work on a platform for a hunting blind, and when I went to shift into park, I felt something give and it would not shift out of low, but it did move up into high gear. I couldn't get it to shift at all at that point and the shifter felt mushy for lack of a better word. I was able to get it down to the lodge and when I investigated, I discovered that the straight, metal tube portion of the shift cable had bent to almost 90 degrees (see pics). I'm positive that it had already had some deformation that had happened previously and it had the right amount of resistance to bend to the point where it was unusable. I have two questions: 1. I suspect that there must be some other issues that makes this UTV difficult to shift, and I'm wondering if this is a common problem and if someone could enlighten me on what could cause this to be difficult to shift? 2. Have any of you had this happen and if so, how difficult is it to replace the shifter cable? Any other advice is welcome, this is the first UTV that I've ever owned, so I don't know much about working on these or maintaining them. I'm relatively capable when it comes to working on my own vehicles in general, and I'm not afraid to take things apart and get my hands dirty. Thanks in advance for any insight, I'll be traveling most the day so I won't get a chance to look at replies until this evening.

  5. Been waiting over a month and a half for a transmission from bobcat, they claim the polaris transmission is different. Can anyone verify that???
  6. I'm also going to need to buy new cables. just finished removing the old batts. For my diagram, I was trying to mimic the perfectly balanced charging setup listed in this document (previously linked on this thread): https://www.solar-electric.com/lib/wind-sun/Iota_balanced_charging.pdf After removing the old batts and seeing how things are setup, I think I'll likely just end up doing the "balanced" charging. It sounds like that's what you did?
  7. It will probably work, and you may never run into a problem, but generally I've seen that you want equal length cables so the resistance is the same, and for parallel either run from one to the next (e.g. B-A-D-C for negative in your diagram and vice versa for positive) or run them all to a bus bar. The way you have it set up, some are connected directly. With in your example, the negative terminal at B being sort of a bus bar, but then C is connected to D. My four batteries are set up in the same trays you show, and I did the Motor Controller (MC)-B-A-D-C for negative, and MC-C-D-A-B for positive. I kept the Delta Q charger, which charges through the motor controller, so I didn't have the extra connection to a charger, but again I would connect that to the last in line of the set; either the same as the motor controller, or perhaps the opposite ends since the terminals can get a little crowded.
  8. This version only fits 550,750,560 and 760 models.
  9. I've been looking at enclosures too. Wonder if this enclosure would fit my '21 T-Boss 410?

  11. Was wondering if someone wouldn't mind QCing my planned wiring?
  12. Chris, I like your setup and am looking to do the same with the charging port. Looks like you may have 3d printed some of those parts. Would you mind sharing what you did and the parts used?
  13. Just to be clear, all of these lithium batteries have a BMS. Where it differs is the charging/discharging rate they allow and if they communicate amongst themselves to coordinate things like discharge/charge leveling among multiple batteries. Based on the label I see in the picture, yours have a max continuous discharge current of 60A as opposed to the 80A version. That just means that with four batteries your max continuous output is 240A, although they will be able to put out more for a limited time up to the 400A max of the motor. A number of folks on this thread have similar batteries and they are happy with them. It helps that Hisun set the bar rather low by using those Discover batteries; pretty much anything is better than those.
  14. Borg I used what factory cables I could but had to get 5 cables from a local battery store in order to run them in parallel. As for the batts, I do not have a BMS, just connected them with the cam communication wires that were included with them. I hope that's good enough and don't encounter any problems later. GNFO yeah I couldn't use the Hisun jhook clamps either so I ended up securing each batt with straps for now, looping under the metal baseboard where the jhooks were.
  15. Before I offer any more useless advice, please refresh me on what type of vehicle we’re talking about
  16. Oil level is below full mark. Replaced filters and changed the transmission oil now the transmission surges somewhat driving down the road.
  17. So I’d been shopping for an enclosure for my ‘21 TBoss pretty much since I bought it. Then they came out with half doors and that’s the only one that I could find. Then the other day I ran across one on Amazon for half the price of anything else I’d seen. The link is below and I’m pretty impressed by how well it fits. There is one Velcro strap on the top of the door that doesn’t line up well with the roll cage, but I’ll work around it. https://a.co/d/09ACQ191
  18. Glad you were able to work it out. Out of curiosity, I don't see any hold-downs in your pictures. Did you add some afterwards (I hope)? I had to modify mine somewhat due to the different top configuration vs the old Discover batteries.
  19. Looks like your batts are different from the ones pictured on amazon. Looks like yours have a power button? Did you buy the 80A BMS version? Nice looking setup...glad it's working great for you!
  20. Fixed it and it runs like never before! I copied too much of the 233 algorithm file to my USB.- only supposed to copy the "charger" folder. Anyway, power, speed, steering... soo much better with the 4 lighter LiTime batts. I attached 2 pics.
  21. My batts should be here by the wknd. Any advice using the factory cables?
  22. NVM I figured it out, copied too much of the zip file to the USB. Amazing upgrade!!! Finally!!! My son and I got stranded too many times on those old Discovery batts. The buggy zips around, accelerates with force, steers better... Do it!
  23. Sorry to hear of the problem. Not sure if it's the same procedure, but did you watch the sun fun kits video linked above? It seemed to have worked for them....not sure if you were trying something different. On a separate note, got my batteries and charger ordered yesterday.
  24. Welp I encountered a problem with my final step (I'll elaborate on the batteries replacement & connections later). The algorithm on my Delta-Q charger continues to display 043 (the Discovery battery algorithm). I follwed this procedure on page 2 https://support.delta-q.com/hc/en-us/article_attachments/360010580151 and uploaded the 233 algorithm using a USB drive. The display on the charger even blinked USB while it was uploading. But when I follow these steps to confirm 233 is the new alorithm https://support.delta-q.com/hc/en-us/articles/360016475772-Changing-Algorithms-on-IC-Series-Chargers it only displays 043, even when I try to scroll through profiles by pressing the wrench button. I formatted the USB FAT32, even tried 3 differeent USBs (1st one didn't work at all. Does anyone have any suggestions??!

Well thank you.  I am retired now....actually came out of "retirement" to help T/S Chino units for a friend....turned into full time.  We had Massimo.  Went to the INDY and ORLANDO power sports and met the folks.  They actually had the b---s and gave out our shop landline number for T/S help for dogs.  I've seen some of your posts...you sound AOK.  I have had a time with this old body.  My lady in white on my right shoulder has always done me good.  Better stop before it gets really deep.  Ben
