I just had a VERY RARE occurance. i had a thought. I was going to use a 2 foot wide by 3/4" plywood for the "test stand", BUT, here is my thought, that ply wood will fit on the frame (where the bed sits), and the wiring harness will reach up there, so i can set the engine on the back, and hook up everything it needs to run in a few minutes. and this will eliminate (maybe) any starting problems. I got to looking and the starter has 2 prongs with 1 grounding tab, and other things. It would be easier said than done. but this way it'll be much easier. hopefully done than said.

Does this look right? The diagram from Kawsaki is no help. I was going to install the carb. woops! Forgot to order carb gaskets!

Battery is good I believe, took it off the charger last night and voltage hasnt dropped from 12.7 any.
-
Morning everyone! Cold here. I plan to put the carburetor on today, and maybe attempt to run it, depending on what the battery says. I'll definitely post a video.

MERRY CHRISTMAS everyone! Hope your holiday season is filled with health, happiness and good times with your friends and family.

Got the battery hooked up and slow charging. Let it charge up this evening and see if it holds.
-
I tested the battery today, reading 7.5 volts, gonna charge it up and see if it holds. I was going to slap the carb on today, and try and fire it up, but the storms are moving in and put a damper on my plans.

You know.... i have a spark tester for small engines, i might put the prong that plugs into the boot, and clip the other end to the spark plug, so that way it won't get so hot... I don't know...... You're wit messed up my plan lol
-
OOh, didnt think of that. i guess i could pull the spark plug boot off the plug. maybe... or if i can figure out a way to ground the magneto, like on a push mower. Fuel shut off valve would take too long...... I'll think on that.....

I need your opinion on a few things. Im planning to fire up the engine outside of the mule first, so i dont have to pull it back out in case something goes wrong. So, i need to hook up, gas and a way to start it, here are my ideas--- What do you think? 1. I'll hook the fuel pump up and put a line in the gas tank, and run it to the carb. starting it. 2., I think i can mount the starter, and could i take the battery off and use jumper cables directly to the starter to start it??

Hi Sun makes the challenger for cub, if I am not mistaken I rarely hear anything bad about Hi Sun utv's. Go to ATV.com they have a lot of utv reviews and they should have some information regarding the 750 pertaining to recalls or faults etc.

Rope trick worked! flywheel nut torqued to 63ft pounds. Now all i need to do is put the carb. on ( i cleaned it yesterday) and that should be it.

HAVE YOU SEEN WHAT AN IGNITION COIL COSTS FOR MY MULE!!!!?????? OEM brand new, 95 bucks! I've bought ones for lawnmowers for $15. crazy! Now there isn't anything wrong with mine, except it's 16 years old and could go just like that.
-
What size rope would be best? I saw a video on youtube of a guy using trot line size rope, would a lead rope work better, or Paracord?
-
Considering this one. Kobalt 3/8"

I've also been in the market for an air ratchet, i do a little tinkering with lawn mowers, need something a little stronger than my B&D drill, but still can get bolts and nuts tight quicker, and be nice just to have one.
-
Estate sales are plentiful around here, I'm starting to keep my eyes open for tools at them.
-
I have a 48 piece kobalt socket set, and 20 or 24 piece craftsman wrench set, and kobalt screwdrivers. I heard dewalt -Stanley black &Decker are building a forging plant here in the US to manufacture Craftsman tools.

I tried vice grips at first on the bolt, but the way the it broke it left a peak, or a point on top, and the grips wouldn't clamp it. Good idea with the rope!! I will definitely try it. I was able to tighten it a little bit more, but not to spec yet. I built an "engine test stand" (square piece of ply wood i drilled holes through to mount the engine) so i can fire up and make sure everything works/is in working order out side of the frame, so i don't install and it blows up on the first stroke.that would be my luck. lol. You've given me a lot of good advice and i appreciate it a bunch! Merry Christmas!

I installed the new valve tapper and adjuster. Put the valve cover on, (torque spec, 130 inch pounds on the 2 bolts) I set my torque wrench to 130, and S N A P. so i take the valve cover back off, and see the broken bolt, Thank the good Lord Almighty it broke off just before it threads into the head, and it was enough to get my needle nose on and back it out, luckily i had kept the old bolts, so put a new o ring on one and tightened, but this time as tight as i could with a regular ratchet. I still need to torque the flywheel nut, it's kind of hard with one person, to keep the crank shaft from spinning while tightening it. Any suggestions?
