  1. After riding with Lenny thu the woopies at speed, I can say his or my back is going to fail before his Trooper. My back was sore for a couple of days after riding with him. I think Lenny is going to have to put some suspension travel in the seats mounts as well or slow down. Not sure if Lenny knows how to slow down, LOL! rocmoc n AZ/Mexico EDIT Kinarfi - - He doesn't
  2. Going an inch longer is OK as long as you are able to compress to the required length. If you don't you will bottom out on the shock and lose travel. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  3. I have a spare one I can send you Lenny to use take some measurements! BUT I want a 25% royalty on all future sales, anyone watch Shark Tank! LOL! rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  4. People always think they know more than they do, including me! LOL!!!! rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  5. YES, I had about 1-2 inches at the top and 2+ inches at the bottom. The bottom was open from the hump on the driver's side to the passerger's side. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  6. I believe this happened to Lenny and he posted a fix a whill ago. Search his posts. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  7. Dust will come in if there is not some vent holes at the bottom. I also had a vent gap at the top of the windshield. I sucked very little dust and this also helps to keep the engine air filter clean since the cleaner the air in the seating area, the cleaner the air going to the engine filter. RainX helps keep dust off Lexan! rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  8. Time for a little update. Rear Diff was trash, just plain wore out! This was OK as the long term plan was to go to the stronger one piece axle diff with a locker, DONE! Decided to take the front diff in and have it checked over with new seals & axle bearings installed, being done now. I have completed the new front bumper with the ablity to add the towbar base plates when needed. I also did some repair work to the frame where the springs attach since everything is pulled out. I have also started a 5/8" body lift to go along with the 2 1/2" spring & 1 1/2" shackle lift. Adding 33" x 17" tires will provide plenty of ground clearance. I have started a new rear bumper that will be stronger and will also have a tow server in the design. Will be in the bumper so nothing is hanging down below the bumper to catch on anything when out off-roading. With the body loose, I am cleaning up the frame and repainting black. This moved me to remove the front fenders to clean up some wiring and add headers, which were purchased today from Summit Racing. Took the seats in and the price to recover was too costly so will upgrade to some new seat, from craigslist! Project is coming along nicely and will be back on the road by mid-June. Not even concerned about the bodywork & paint and even considering the idea of the Rat Rod look. BUT construction starts again on the house this week so will have less time to work on the toys, bummer! rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  9. I have a very very good used clutch plate and throw-out bearing for $30 plus shipping. Wasn't having any problems with them but replaced them when I had the trans out for some work. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  10. You need to be sure it is the bearing and not the hub. The hub is softer than the bearing and is sometime the problem. If the bearing just slips out when removed, it is the hub. There has be many write ups on this forum of the R&R process & what to watch out for. Also if you are lucky, the hub nut may just need to be a tighter, but not likely. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  11. Pretty sure they are the same bearing as the rear! rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  12. Had to start her yesterday. She runs great at 3,300 feet. We had a HUGE rain storm and the rail was left outside with a cover as I am out of garage space untill something is sold. Anyone want to buy a INEX Legends racecar or a 1973 DeTomaso Pantera? Went outside and she was WET. Pulled the cover so the rail could dry and started the engine, everything was fine. Left it uncovered last night to dry further but will put a cover back on today Next time it is going to rain, I will throw a tarp on also. Hopefully I will have garage space before that happens. I am going to put the Legends on Ebay and the Pantera on the Pantera forum. Siriusly if interested contact me, Legends is very reasonable (have owned for about 5 years). Pantera is pricey, more details only if siriusly interested ( have owned for 17 years). rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  13. I have not taked much about the Jeep. I had been looking for sometime for one package, Shortie CJ5 (pre 1970 when they added about 3 inches to the front clip), V6 with the Warn overdrive. WELL, when I found her; she needed work. The guy I bought it from had just down some work on the right rear wheel bearing. He finished, drove around the yard and then headed down the dirt road. The axle came out and down on the ground the right rear went. When I got there the axle was half shoved back in the diff assembly. I jacked it up, shoved it the rest of the way in and loaded it on the trailer. There was also a LOT of other little stuff but we are going to stay with the big stuff. Could not start it as he had removed the battery but the engine was suppose to be new and it looked it. Good price so took the risk. Got it home and rolled it in the garage for when we returned from the Jamboree & Coarl Pink Sand Dunes. Well I have been home nearly a week and the work has begun. I pulled the rear diff assembly completely and took it into the Jeep Genius of Tucson. BUT before I did that I threw a battery in to see how she runs, I didn't want to waste more money if the engine had problems. She ran beautiful. I could not have hoped for more. Took the diff in yesterday and waiting for a call. In the mean time I order new springs ( 2 1/2 inch increased lift), new shackles ( another 1 1/2 inch of lift) and new 17" alum wheels so I can run the take offs from my Dodge Ram 4X4. This is another 2 inches of lift. Bought 4 inch channel iron yesterday to build new bumpers and so I can mount the tow bar baseplates from the Ram on the front. This will allow me to use the 10,000 lb tow bar I used on the Ram to pull behind the Motorhome. I have pulled nearly 600 lbs of iron of the chassis that had been added to carry rocks, previous owner was a rockhound. She is not starting to look clean. We are going to pull her on a trip in Aug so first priorty is to get her road worthy. Later I will worry about the way she looks. Take care of the heart first and the skin later. Just a little update and will add more later if there is interest. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  14. Great, Casey is good people! rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  15. My sandrail has a 1915cc VW with dual two port Webers. The trip to Coral Pink Sand Dunes, over 6,000 feet, brought foreward a bit of a problem to the the uneducation (ME). JETTING!!!! The normal jetting can be used from sea level to 3,000 feet. Above 3,000 feet the jetting has to change one size for each 1,000 feet. So I would have had to used jetting 3 steps smaller than what I had. Thus the power & idle was Cr*p! NEXT TIME!!! rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  16. First the GOOD! The area is in total SUPER. We played some in the sand and rode a 24+ mile loop. The loop had an ending that matches most any ride or area. Lenny did great in the sand, will let him give details & Kinarfi did better than either Lenny or myself expected. Sand is red with plant life ranging from cactus to trees. The sand is the really soft and pulls every HP out of an engine. The Bad, I was worried about the elevation change for my sand rail. It is setup for sea level and we are over 6,000 ft. No matter how much I adjusted the carb, removed the baffle and removed the spark arrester, I could not get the engine to perform. Just too large of jets for the elevation. Everyone played in the sand for a while until I quit as I was not going to hurt the engine for the sake of a little more fun. We came back to camp, had lunch and went out on the loop. I rode first with Lenny and finished the loop with Kinarfi. It is a great trail with sand, fast sections, slow techy section, slick rock, elevation change & VIEWS. If not for the Hanksville, Ut jamboree, I would say the best. Don't like being a passenger so we are headed home in the AM but we will be returning. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  17. You will need to load it up and bring it to the Joyner Jamboree next year, I will be pushing for Coral Pink Sand Dunes in Utah. Everyone & type of UTV/4x4 is welcome. We had a RZR with us last year and they enjoyed. I will be bringing a Jeep or sandrail so you would not be the only non-Joyner. Go West he said, LOL! Where do you ride now? rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  18. We are here! This place is one of a kind with the closest other being Coos Bay, OR. There is lots of area here to beyond running in the dunes so first take is it would make a great Jamboree location. Lenny, Kinarfi and myself have made the trek. The area is Beautiful & quiet. Will unload in the AM and make our first run! rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  19. Nice looking ride! rocmoc n AZ/Mexico

  22. Going to be FUN. Perfect weather, high of 86 daytime and low 60's at night. Anyone else going to make it? This is a possible location for next year's Jamboree! rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  23. Sounds good, we will all be at the driy camp location Friday. We won't get there unil late afternoon as we are stopping to tour some Caverns Fri AM. If we can get to the caverns early enough Thursday to catch the last tour we will be earlier to the dunes. We love caverns! rocmoc n AZ/Mexcio
