Desert Bloom Rally February 14-17, 2013
rocmoc replied to factory25's topic in UTV Events and Rallies
This is going to be a great event. There is every type of terrain and lots of area to boondock/dry camp in. Wish we could make it but we are already commited. We have to make our plans a year plus out as we have too many demands for our time. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico- 10 replies

Finishing the Small Items/Problems on Project Jeep
rocmoc replied to rocmoc's topic in All Other Off-Road Toys
Have been working on the handling and made BIG improvements yesterday. Added a lot more caster! She is now ready for the road. Very few rattles & small stuff left. Will continue to work on those but it is time to buy the insurance so she can be driven. Will make little local trips to post office and the such then move on to bigger trips & off road. It is getting there. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico -
goindeep, Thanks for responding. That alone is such an improvement over the past. R&D is a tough road! rocmoc n AZ/Mexico

goingdeep, Please don't take this wrong! Being a retired engineer, help me understand what is the design difference / enhancement of your intake. Looks like a rectangle box! I don't understand the flow properties of the intake. Thanks, rocmoc n AZ/Mexico

Finishing the Small Items/Problems on Project Jeep
rocmoc replied to rocmoc's topic in All Other Off-Road Toys
Turned out there was A LOT of small items / problems. One I have been working on is the Jeep rode and handled like cr*p. I did every easy fix there is but no improvement. Finally I took the leaf springs apart and removed 2 leafs leaving 4 in the stack. I also put a wedge in the front spring mount to improve caster. WOW what an improvement. The springs now have travel so the shocks can work. I am going to bite the bullet and purchase Fox Shocks. It seems except in the racing community, Jeep suspension technology is lagging behind. At any rate progess has been made. Second problem was / is exhaust noise. There was so much at first I could not tell the NEW Headman Headers had leaks. Finally after clearing up some of the noise I found the leaks. The surfaces of the flange is not flat & one pipe is not fully weld. I can't return them as I had to redesign one tube for clearance around the steering column. So, I have it off and doing the fixes myself. All in all I am feeling better about the new beast. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico -
The problem at this point it take 5 "at a boys" to make up for "1 ah sh*t"! Still have to get 4 more to be even with 1. AND there are more than 1 "ah sh*ts" out there for SB. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico

Welcome. I had a '08. Yes they have more rattles than the rest because they used more wielded metal in the panels. What I had to do was caulk ALL the seams, floors, storage compartments under the seats (they were the worst), everywhere you can get to with the caulk (just get a good quality outdoor CLEAR caulk from Home Depot or local hardware store). Took care of most of the rattles except in the steering. That requires Lenny's steering upgrade kit or replace the steering rack. Hang in there, you will get most of them. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico

In buisness you are only as good as your last transaction so let's hope SB gets it sorted out so all we have to say is GOOD! Don't get me wrong, I'm not throwing him under the train. I will be the first to say good about someone or a business but I won't shy away from saying something bad IF it is supported with FACTS. Just remember, it wasn't Jose who bit the silverbullet to stay in business and supply the Joyner owners, it was Rick. Jose still has to prove himself! As I always say Sustained Preformance is the real measure. One hit wonders don't cut it! rocmoc n AZ/Mexico

I don't agree. As long as it is kept civil where else do we have to voice our concerns or provide feedback. SB has the same opportunity to voice his side of a concern, one of the principles the USA is built on. SB choose for the longest time not to be on the board or tell his side of the stories. I myself never had a positive experence with SB let alone a call back when I made the effort to call SB. Ragging, I don't call it ragging. It is FEEDBACK on customer service! rocmoc n AZ/Mexico

Not going to happen with any of the old dealers, they got hosed for tens / hundrends of thousands of dollars. It was the dealers that really got hurt when Joyner folded. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico

We can start it! Somewhere COLD or when it is COLD, I am tired of being cooked every year. AND less dust! I am already going to Ouray, CO in mid-August. Coral Pink was really nice but pick a time when there is rain to keep the dust down. It was fairly cool even in June when we were there. Kinarfi even had to go into town to get propane. May & June are just dry dusty months so would not be my pick. Also the warmer it gets the more bugs. I would also go back to Hanksville, that place was GREAT, but before it gets hot. We can't make it in the spring already busy. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico

Trooper, UTV or Quad trailer for sale
rocmoc posted a topic in UTV Off-Road Classifieds - Buy & Sell
Here is a link to my craigslist listing for the sale of my trailer I hauled my Trooper with. Last trip I hauled the sandrail so the California guys have seen it as will as past Jamboree goers. Replaced with a tandem car trailer so I could haul the Jeep. Trailer is in GREAT shape. http://tucson.craigslist.org/rvs/3223202589.html rocmoc n AZ/Mexico -
15" tires & wheels, number one in my book! rocmoc n AZ/Mexico

I would still go over there and get my money on this one as it has been way too long. Should Silverbullet make it, pay for it when it arrives or you pick it up. If the full payment is needed up front, there maybe funding issues IMHO! At best a deposit, not payment in full! rocmoc n AZ/Mexico

Quit wasting your money on the little boy tires. Get new 15" rims for roughly $100/rim ($400), buy some used 15" tires on Craigslist off a Jeep (I paid $100)(big boy tires) and save some money ($400+100=$500)($600-500=$100 saved). You will never wear out the Jeep tires. After two years my tires showed no new wear and the tread was half gone when I bought them. Also everyone that has gone to 15" rims say it is one of the best upgrades ever, including me! rocmoc n AZ/Mexico

I would be taking a drive to Yuma. You are only 3 hours away. One day trip and get it over! I would bet since we have not hear from SilverBullet for a while, they are going under. Happens a lot when the orignal owner sells out and someone else comes in. OH YEAH, that is what happened to Joyner! AND that is where Mitt made a LOT of $$$$$$. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico

Same shock & same springs. Just has more preload cranked into the shock. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico

N2 only makes the shocks stiffer. Has little effect on the damping and damping is where the ride & performance are! It is all in the valving! rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
