  1. To add to what kenfain said about storage, I will advise you to not put the name brand Sta-bil in it, I've seen it many times on small engine carbs, and v-twin Briggs where the owner added it, and after a month or so, it acts like ethanol, and crystallized inside the fuel system. At some point with a fresh tank of gas add some Berrymans b12 chemtool. whenever the Mule started to run rough in previous years, add a bit of it to the fuel tank and cleared it up after a few days driving.
  2. There has been a few times I wish the windshield was a bit wider on the Mule during winter. I finally got a brown carhartt coat, keeps me warm.
  3. Doing it with a tarp like you said sounds like a good idea. I'm not sure of the durability of enclosures for 50+ mph for 300 miles. You could tarp it, and use a ratchet strap to secure it around the Mule. If it's easy, I would remove the windshield, cause if one rock gets kicked up by another vehicle, you'll have a hard time seeing out of it.
  4. Good looking machine! It'll last you for years to come! Thanks for sharing the photo of it!
  5. Here is a very good long independent review on it https://www.utvguide.net/kawasaki_teryx_review/
  6. If you have a volt meter, set it to DC 20 volts, put + to + and - to - Then start it, or crank it over, if the voltage drops to 10 or below its bad. Also most auto parts stores test batteries for free.
  7. GREAT news! 457 to bore a cylinder!!!!! Yes, you should dispute that charge. That is bull crap, machinist down here told me on mine $20 for honing, and $50 if it needed bored.
  8. One big advantage with the 2017 pioneer is that they upgraded and put a better transmission in it. I really think the main thing when buying a UTV is having a good dealer close by, for parts, service and any possible recall fixes.
  9. You might check out Rocky Mountain ATV/MC they sell hundreds of different wheels and tires for utvs on their website.
  10. Welcome to the forum Carl!!
  11. There are several places online that sell rear seats that bolt onto the bed for the ranger, Most Mules are 2 seater (seat 2 comfortably) unless you get one of The newer Teryx or Pro FX which cost some $$$, There are snowplow attachments for virtually every UTV.
  12. I have no clue, I've read everything right and left and all through trouble shooting sections. Never ran into a problem like it....
  13. I think I found some, or at least the part number for them, http://www.partsatv.com/category-s/4770.htm
  14. Definitely use new head bolts, About the head gasket, I looked for aftermarket, but they were all Chinese made and like $4 a piece. but there is this, not sure if pricing though https://coppergaskets.us
  15. You won't get much better than OEM in my opinion as far as gaskets go. As far as studding the head, I'll say leave well enough alone.
  16. That's definitely not what you want too see! Sorry it didn't work out better for you.
  17. So if you maintain full throttle or close, and idle, it's fine, but going from idle to high rpm is when it Boggs and stumbles...correct?
  18. Its possible, as old as these engines are, (15+) I would buy a inline spark tester, like one you would use on a Briggs engine, this is one like i have. you hook it up to the plug wire, and clip it to ground, or on the spark plug, if you've got a orange, yellow spark, coil is weak, if its blue or white, thats great! another thing could be a faulty spark plug, sometimes under higher pressure (such as revving the engine) the spark wont jump the gap, the plug i use on the 550 is NGK i BPR5ES. i would also be sure the plug gap is correct, should be 0.028-0.030, you might also try gapping it slight smaller than spec, if your coils weak it wont have enough oomf to jump the gap over high pressure. EDIT: one thing i would do, is when it starts to bog while revving, choke the engine, about 1/4 of the way, then half choke, then about 3/4 of fully choked. if it runs better while being choked you have a lean mixture of air and fuel. or more air, not much fuel.
  19. It should show the complete code when I throws one. you can email Hisun tech support at [email protected]
  20. From HiSun Tech support Unfortunately, the “45c” code is just part of the code. There are actually several different 45c codes. these codes are listed as they are shown in the owners manual. If you have the complete code, we can help you further.
  21. these are the codes decoded. There should be one more digit after the C
  22. You are very welcome. if you have any problems with your Mule, I have a shop manual for the 500,520 and 550 with troubleshooting, adjustments, and service intervals. Along with other specifications.
