Fuel Leaks May Create Fire Hazard

In the recalled vehicles, two possible problems may exist:

  1. The engine oil cooler hoses can separate from the clamp joints due to insufficient clamp strength resulting in an oil leak.
  2. The fuel tank cap gasket can become pinched and torn when the cap is installed on the filler neck. This can result in a fuel and fuel vapor leak, creating a fire hazard.

The company has received seven reports so far of vehicles catching on fire or being damaged. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported.

The vehicles were sold from August 2018 through February 2019 for about $12,000 and were manufactured in Taiwan and imported by Kawasaki Motors Corporation.

The recall affects 2019 Mule Pro MX utility vehicles, models 700 EPS, 700 EPS LE, and 700 Camo EPS.

These are all four-wheel off-highway utility vehicles with side-by-side seating for two people and automotive-style controls. They came in camo, green, red, and white. Customers may see the “Mule Pro MX” logo printed on the right side and left front fender of the affected vehicles, and “Kawasaki” printed on the cargo box. The VIN should be located on the steel frame between the right, front lower A-arm mounts.

Kawasaki invites consumers to call toll-free at 866-802-9381 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday for more information. They can also visit the company’s website.

Kawasaki Recalls 1,000 Mule Pros Over Rollover Risk

Other recalls have affected the Kawasaki Mule Pro. The most recent recall prior to the one detailed above involved about 1,000 vehicles. For this recall, there was a possibility that an incorrect grade of material — which did not meet the intended tensile strength—was used to manufacture the ROPS cross member of the rollover protective structure.

The recall involved 2018 model year Mule Pro DXT, DX and 2019 model year Mule Pro FXT, FX, and FXR utility vehicles. These were sold at Kawasaki dealers from August 31, 2018, to September 22, 2018, for between $13,100 and $17,000.

Consumers were advised to stop using the products immediately, and contact their dealerships to schedule a free repair, which would involve replacing the ROPS cross member.

I called Kawasaki customer service on Friday after posting above. The new recall (not posted on the Kawasaki site yet and not the ones listed above by Travis). CS stated that they are waiting on the Feds to approve their recall and then they will get it posted and rolled out. With Christmas and New Years, the feds have been slow to respond. It involves the breather tube and accumulation of dirt, debris, and water on the skid plate. They say they have the fix ready to roll out as soon as approved by the feds.

I found this,

Quote

My understanding is that it has to do with moisture in the crankcase breather freezing in cold climates. When the freezing occurs it stops the crankcase depressurizing to atmosphere and it will cause the engine to belch oil out near the valve cover. Among other things, this is a fire hazard. Mine did this once on a frigid day here in missouri in January.
Supposedly affects 2015 - 2020 fxt pro models

The Kawasaki sales rep still states that Kawasaki is just waiting on the Feds to approve their recall, but the one we purchased in December is still sitting at the dealership unable to be released. Supposedly Kawasaki is going to provide a cash rebate to the customer for ones that were purchased but unable to be delivered to the customer. That does nothing for the warranty months expiring since purchased though without possession, or interest or payments made for them sitting at the dealership.

I was told by dealer the stop sale is still in place.  Bought my 2020  Mule Pro FXT-EPS in early January.   called CS at kawasaki yesterday and they now have a $500 accessory credit available for this mule model until it's released...Think I'll buy a roof for mine and get that credit.  Also thought it would be mid March when it would be released...

Our dealer said they were unable to sell.  Warranty can not start while sale hold is active. They said.  We gave 500 to hold that particular one.

Last week I took advantage of the $500 accessories rebate that Kawasaki is offering those of us that have a Mule Pro reserved in limbo. I had the dealer install the second set of LED headlights that does not come standard on my Mule Pro FXT EPS. I would advise anyone that is in the same situation to pick something out and take advantage of this offer since your Mule Pro is just sitting at the dealership.  After all, you get to spend their money! Lol!

Is this $500 accessory credit in addition to the $500 rebate that was offered?  Or are you referring to the same offer?

I was offered the 500 off the sales price along with a 500 in accessories.  So mine is coming with a roof and a rear view mirror.  From what I've heard from Kawasaki it should only be a couple more weeks at the most and this should be done.

If you don't mind my asking, who were you fortunate enough to get that information from? Anytime I have spoken to Kawasaki customer service all I have been told is "they haven't told us anything ."

I talked to customer service about two weeks ago and she said that they didn’t have any projected time to resolve this issue but she would call me back if it hadn’t been resolved by the 17th of March (not sure about the importance of this date). I talked to my local dealer today and they say they haven’t received any information at all about this.

Just spoke with my dealer who has absolutely no knowledge of the supposed "2nd stop sale". I'm going to take their word even though I can't imagine someone putting something on the internet that's not true. Lol!

Here is 2nd stop sale

Spoke with customer service today who had absolutely no useful update or timeline and said they would call back at the end of March?.??!!  Only thing I was told was both stop sales are still in effect.  I had to tell a local dealer about the 2nd stop sale.  I am beginning to think I need to look for something else.

Probably taking so long due to the fixes, I imagine they will need to come up with a fix for The problem, test it, make sure it works so they dont have to do this all over again then add it to all the thousands of models and vehicles affected.

But I'm sure it is very frustrating waiting, think after doing this for 30 years they'd have it down.

Hope you all get on the trail soon!

Something else yes.   However.   What kind of rebates and sales tactics will they offer once this gets better.  ?   My dealer is down 2800 from advertised price and also is giving me any further incentives that kawai may offer.   But yes im tired of waiting. Snow is gone here in iowa and we are ready to play

Just received delivery of a 2024 AMP Pro.  Thought I'd start a thread with my impressions as I use it and learn more.  There doesn't seem to be a whole lot of real-world usage information out there on this model.  Hope this will help others as they research.
      Intended Use Cases
Fire mitigation / slash removal from a 5 acre forested and well-gamble-oaked property.  The previous owners thought as much about fire mitigation as I do about fashion: not much. Snow removal Stump pulling General hauling (rock, lumber, etc.) Weimaraner energy depletion.  Wasn't an original use case, but a nice added bonus.  Experiences So Far
Wasn't impressed that two of the bumpers on the underside of the bed where it sits upon the frame were missing.  The metal on metal contact has damaged the powder coating and the frame.  I expect a little better QC.
I've only put a few hours on it, so not a ton to report on usage.  It isn't quiet; it's silent.  I can't even detect an electric note from the motor. I removed (and subsequently replaced) the motor cover noticed that the motor is German and made by Schambuller.  The motor controller is Italian and made by Dana TM4.  Given the operating specs of both I found on the web, I suspect both are higher quality than the previous Navitas (which is supposed to be decent).  The motor is rated at 25 hp and 71.5 lb-ft of torque.  It feels very powerful.  All the torque is delivered instantly, if desired.
The bed is huge and has an electric dump as standard.  Great feature but would like it to go up a bit more.  Probably not feasible from an engineering perspective, but I want and I need ;).
Power steering is nice, but vague.  Probably common to many UTVs, but I am accustomed to more direct results from input.  Plan early and plan often.
In our first full day of usage, we hauled about 1/2 as much slash as the entire rest of the year when I was doing it by hand cart.  I may get fatter, but I'll also get more done.  After a few days of usage, the battery meter has gone down by 1/10th.
      Until next time...

My "R" light on the dash will not go out when I take the UTV out of reverse and put it into any other gear. Is this just the light switch issue or will this effect engine performance in the other gears?

hello everyone, i just joined this forum to try my luck, few days ago i bought an old (dont know exactly), 2011/14 hi sun 500cc ""carburated"",  was not running at the time, but i fell was a good deal and decided it to bring it home to play with it, this is the issue, i bought and installed a new carb, and pump, i repositioned the battery location and upgraded to a "car batt", reconnected the fuel lines and started it, but it only runs with the choke ON, i checked the bowl, it does have fuel, but for some reason wont inject it to run, i came across a video that say that ""the body small tank had to be connected for the cart to run" (was deleted when bought), sure enough i got it to run sporadically , but the so called ""small body tank'' often runs out of fuel and wont refill itself , i had to couple times do it manually, so how does that small tank works ?..what does it do?..and why if  bypass it , the cart wont start?....any help?..thanks so much!!!
